About this deal

Who Am I? tells one story from the Stolen Generation, and in the opinion of My Book Corner, is an ideal way in which to teach understanding of this period in Australia’s history.

Curriculum

The journal format of any story has immediate appeal to younger readers, they can relate to it, it’s on their level and therefore it literally ‘talks to them’. I love this one for the same reason I fell in love with literature years ago … its ability to give insight in to periods in history which have had such an impact on those involved. Anita Heiss’sensitive portrayal of Mary as she recounts how she arrived at Bomaderry, lived there for five years, then moved to live with a white family in Sydney allows readers to gain an insight in to what life was like. Ann is the editor of Selfless Self, (hailed as a spiritual classic), on the teachings of Shri Ramakant Maharaj, which was published in 2015, and has since been translated into six languages. She also edited Maharaj’s books, Be With You, (2016) and Ultimate Truth, (2018).

Auspiciously, Ann returned to Nashik for a few more months in 2018, to be with her Master. Shri Ramakant Maharaj attained Mahasamadhi in August 31st. Greene, Andy (17 May 2011). "Pete Townshend Will Finally Deliver His Memoir Next Year". Rolling Stone . Retrieved 10 January 2013.According to Raman Maharsi, To find"Who am I?", We need to negate everything unreal so only the real can remain. The final awareness answers the question. The nature of this awareness is constant bliss, When the world is negated as unreal and illusion, Awareness alone exists in our perception. Once you inquire about illusory mind, Dive deep into the core of "i" by questioning "To whom it arise?". Through this inquiry, We will reach inward and the root of awareness. a b c d e Lynskey, Dorian (9 October 2012). "Who I Am: A Memoir by Pete Townshend". The Guardian . Retrieved 4 January 2013.

I find " Who Am I ? " - to be the first question that man must answer, and that only in solitude, otherwise it makes no sense. And when I say " solitude " - I don't mean only an isolation in a cave, but to answer this question by eliminating any external conscious element ( meaning individual ) - from present, past and future. Questions and Answers on the ultimate enquiry of Who Am I? Ramana's method is as direct as looking in the mirror after seeking elsewhere. From myriad queries to asking where do these queries come from, it's effective in murdering the ego and its manifestations to say the least. Minute TimerThis hourglass sand timer reminds us to carve out 15 minutes a day for what truly counts. It demarcates a very modest and manageable period to dedicate to the important things we so often let slide – finally writing that letter to an old friend, rationally analysing our career ambitions, or playing in a concentrated way with a child. It’s an antidote to wasted days and a counter to the urge to procrastinate, prompting us to do a minimum of what really counts. There is not much difference between Shankaracharya and Raman Maharshi's teachings. Raman Mahrarsi's teaching birthplace is Adavitha philosophical system. Discrimination and inquiry are the tools used to remove unreal simultaneously.Armed with intellectual knowledge and graced with several spiritual/mystical experiences, the search continued with a vengeance. The journey had its highs and lows - with long periods “in the desert”, until, at last, further down the illusory road, what she was looking for, found her! Discuss literary texts and share responses by making connections with students’ own experiences (AC9E1LE02) Maharshi mainly emphasizes "self-inquiry" to discover the nature of the self free of "I" thought. and he also emphasizes breathing which is the gross form of Mind. Through constant self-inquiry and control of breathing, we can discover real awareness. Can a book be so exasperating and so soothing at the same time? Read "Who am I?" to find out:-) It is frustrating because the true meaning of Maharshi's words elude me at the experiential level. Even then--despite the cognitive dissonance--truth has a calming effect on the mind. Deep down, we know.
