About this deal

Walter Russell, who was mentally awake and active right up until the end, died on his 92nd birthday, the 19th of May 1963. Walter Cronkite in the national television evening news, commenting on Russell’s death, referred to him as “… the Leonardo da Vinci of our time.” From then on, until 1914, he mainly painted portraits of children. His principal instructors in art had been Albert Munsell and Ernest Major of Boston, Howard Pyle of Philadelphia and Jean Paul Laurens from the Academy Julian in Paris. Russell became a leader in the Science of Man Movement when he was elected president of the Society of Arts and Sciences in 1927. His seven-year tenure generated many articles in the New York Times. The gold medals awarded by the Society were highly valued. [14]'

For a boy, I had been doing extraordinary things, which caused much wonder. Before I could walk, I could play on the piano, with one finger, any tunes that I heard, then, gradually, with all fingers, even the complex melodies played by blind Mr. Maynard, who, to me, was the greatest man in all the world. Mr. Maynard lived in the dark but walked and talked with God in the Light. And what the soul of Creation told his Soul, he told me and I walked and talked with God in those early days in His wonderlands of Peat Meadow and the huge oaks down in Bachelder’s wilds where nobody went but me, for no one else in all My World heard what I heard there nor saw what I saw there so it was mine alone, all that glory just mine alone.” A musician from infancy, he secured a church organist’s position at thirteen, and entered art school. Since then, he was entirely self-supporting and self-educated. As a young man he was an illustrator for books and magazines. At age 29, he attracted widespread attention with his allegorical painting The Might of Ages in 1900. The painting represented the United States at the Turin international exhibition and won several awards. [7] Russell was also proficient in philosophy, music, ice skating, and was a professor at the institution he founded, the University of Science and Philosophy (USP). He believed mediocrity is self-inflicted and genius is self-bestowed. The content of his public lectures and his writing about living philosophy place him firmly in the New Thought Movement.Walter Bowman Russell (May 19, 1871 – May 19, 1963) was an impressionist American painter (of the Boston School), sculptor, mystic and author. His lectures and writing place him firmly in the New Thought Movement. [1] Russell wrote extensively on science topics, but these writings "were not taken seriously by scientists." [2] Life and career [ edit ] At the age of 53, Russell turned to sculpting and was the artist of choice for several distinguished personalities such as Thomas Edison and Mark Twain. 3 - A cosmic illumination There are many more books than these that Walter Russell has written during his lifetime. Here is an example of a children’s story: Gray, Christopher (1997-04-06). "The Lavish 'Studio Palace' Called Alwyn Court". The New York Times. ISSN 0362-4331 . Retrieved 2020-12-10. Russell's cosmogony was described in A New Concept of the Universe, [22] where he wrote that "the cardinal error of science" was "shutting the Creator out of his Creation." [23] Russell never referred to an anthropomorphic god, but rather wrote that "God is the invisible, motionless, sexless, undivided, and unconditioned white Magnetic Light of Mind" [24] which centers all things. "God is provable by laboratory methods," Russell wrote, "The locatable motionless Light which man calls magnetism is the Light which God IS." [25] He wrote that Religion and Science must come together in a New Age. [26] With Lao Russell at Swannanoa in Virginia 1948–1963 [ edit ]

Walter Russell’s congenial wife often receives too little attention in view of the wealth of her partner’s work, but she also had something to say herself. Her main focus was the topic balance between man and woman, which she realized in her very happy marriage with Walter Russell. Without Lao’s energy, neither the University of Science and Philosophy nor the Home Study Course would probably have become reality. The World Crisis: Its Explanation and Solution, (with Lao Russell), Univ of Science & Philosophy, 1958 Walter Russell's careers as an illustrator, correspondent in the Spanish–American War, child portrait painter and builder are detailed in several questionnaires he answered and submitted to Who's Who in America. [6]

However, while the world knows much of the achievements of other multi-faceted pioneers like Leonardo Da Vinci and Nikola Tesla, an enigma still surrounds Russell’s beliefs and revelations. Today, to help you gain a deeper understanding of his life and works, we are sharing 8 of his most notable pursuits. 8 Facts To Know About Walter Russell: The Multi-Faceted Pioneer 1 - Walter Russell was self-taught
