About this deal

This story feels, to me, like one of those books where the characters are everything. Everything. Without these characters, the story wouldn't be as good for me, truly. It pains my soul to know I'll have to wait 1 year to return to the Calem brothers and Kim 😭. The Blood That Binds Us, @erinmainordauthor’s debut novel is everything! I was consumed by this story as it kept me reading late into the midnight hours. Though it wasn’t like Tommy hadn’t had his run-ins. The vampires sent after him were brutal, each wave getting stronger. He was clearly pissing someone off now the way they sent in practically an army to deal with him. The last run-in had been the worst, leaving Tommy crawling out of the fight barely holding onto his life. A few cuts and bruises and a large gash on his side that refused to heal. Wilbur walked so lost in thought he failed to hear the twin pair of footsteps fall in step with his own. Above him, a crow sat, watching. there had been more of this around as well recently. I really enjoyed this sequel. It has some of my favorite tropes (enemies-to-lovers, slow burn, pretend plaything) and I loved Nadir.

Aaron is legit golden retriever mixed with a lottabit of Cujo. But I literally love him. The character growth and relationship growth from both books was so much and i’m just really proud of Aaron 🥹

I don't mind a dual POV, but one of the chapters switched POVs in the middle with no warning and I was very confused. TLDR: If you want a cozy vampire book with a romance subplot that has: camping trips, a college setting, golden retriever boys, and a gorgeous display of a found family... then you'd love this. If you're looking for a super angsty vampire book, this is not the one for you.

Family is the circle of people who nurture your soul, lift your spirits, and make your heart feel at home.” Our FMC, Kimberly is too pure for this world and she is just such an easy fit into Aaron’s family. She’s so kind and supportive. I think one of the biggest draws to this book is like hey! Nice family dynamic! Not toxic! Family that mostly likes each other! So I think it’s important to note that Aaron’s brothers are wonderful guys. They are kind but strong and are willing to drop everything to protect each other. All in all, the ONLY complaint I have, is that this was an ARC, which means this book is not out yet, which means I have to wait that much longer to read the second book... because THAT ENDING has me sweating. Wren is a wielder of blood magic and has been imprisoned by a rebel group to use her against the kingdom. In the midst of battle she is able to surrender herself but is it into better hands?

These characters lived in my head for many, many years, but I didn’t start writing THE BLOOD THAT BINDS US until 2020. I had just moved to a very remote island off the coast of Alaska and decided, I’m finally going to write this book, and so I did! It took me a little over a year to write the book and complete several rounds of revisions until it was ready to be pitched to industry professionals. After the book sold to a small press publisher in 2022, it was time for… you guessed it, ANOTHER round of revisions. The final version was completed in summer of 2022, and then it was published in May, 2023. Now that Kimberly’s life is undeniably intertwined with Aaron’s, the future remains unclear. And with the pressures of college life and The Legion hovering over the brothers’ every move, she wonders if she’s bitten off more than she can chew. She wants to remain a part of Aaron’s life, but at what cost?
