Compounding this is her brother, Tristan, and his best friend, Danny—ultra-successful businessmen™. Furthermore, Charlie is attracted to Danny and has been rejected by him in the past. Danny is washboard-abs fit, ludicrously good-looking, super-successful and eye-wateringly wealthy—basically every male love interest in these types of books ever. If it ain't broken, don't fix it and all that, but it wouldn't hurt to mix things up a little either, which, unfortunately, this book doesn't.

We have Danny, the “hero” who in the first 30% of the book has sex with two other women, and talks about getting hard staring at a waitress. We are constantly shown a parade of women rubbing against him and flirting, and he does absolutely nothing to discourage it. Then the first time he has sex with the heroine, he asks if she’s on the pill so he can skip wearing a condom…keep in mind, he was with TWO OTHER WOMEN within 2-3 weeks of this. This man must be CRAWLING with STIs…just crawling. He has absolutely no redeeming qualities, no depth, nothing. At 41 years old I just can’t believe he does nothing but think about sex with women and apparently gets hard instantly. He needs to see a doctor. There was a mention of when Danny specifically started liking Charlie which is good because if he didn't, that would have been weird since he knows Charlie from when she was way younger and it possibly would have made a few people uncomfortable if they didn't know that. During your commute: If you take public transportation or have a long commute, you may find it helpful to use that time to read.Before bedtime: Many people find that reading before bedtime helps them unwind and relax, which can promote better sleep. Taming Mr. Walker is a standalone, full-length sizzling office enemies-to-lovers romance starring a brooding CEO and a feisty, sarcastic younger heroine.
They don’t even want to have sex (excuse me) with each other. It’s all telling by author and no showing through scenes. I was so ready to give this a 1 star just because of that twist but it turns out I was wrong and all is just a misunderstanding. Not gonna lie, I really enjoyed reading this especially the sex but... this couple frustrated me a lot throughout the book.

The plot was just as shitty. Both were with other people when they started being physical. No good secondary characters, absolutely ridiculous plot tangents (she sings and writes her own music and towards the end her song is used as the main song in a James Bond movie….hahahaha…ok. As if every Bond song hasn’t been by a huge superstar of their time). There is nothing but sex, most of it a rinse/repeat of aggressive fingering, hard screwing, and lots of mentions of him filling her up. Ok then. The "Barfarama" tag is literal...way too much vomiting. It reminded me of Knives Out where the vomiting is such a presence it should have been listed under Cast of Characters.

The hero and heroine behaved in abnormal fashion to how people in love would behave. This is a giggle out loud listen, and Danny is as swoon-worthy as they come. I thoroughly enjoyed the lurch from situation to situation, with misunderstandings, mis-readings and hot sex galore.But perhaps there’s more behind his cold, detached stares than I thought. Stone-faced ruthless CEOs don’t fall for scatty girls like me. Or do they? Lauren received her doctorate in neuroscience and studied neurodegeneration in aging before she started writing full-time. Christina Hobbs was a counselor in a junior high school before she started writing full-time. The two consider themselves best friends and work well together. The Beautifulseries, starting with Beautiful Bastard, and the Wild Seasonsseries, starting with Sweet Filthy Boy, are the most like TL Swan. I kind of want to chop away the final third of this and pretend it never happened as it really spoiled what had been a decent read until that point. Ah well.(/spoiler)
The story definitely held up on a second go around and I loved it just as much as the first. Charlie is a bright, cheerful, rather catastrophe prone, city girl, in her late twenties, who has had a crush on Danny, her much older brother’s, grumpy, taciturn, sexy friend since she was a teenager. She decided to try and ride him when she was 20, but he rejected her and their relationship has been tense since then. However when he becomes her new boss things suddenly become more complicated and situations soon escalate. I love a secret workplace romance and the whole dating your boss on the QT is a favourite of mine. That was really well done in this, the workplace and their colleagues all felt authentic.
