About this deal

Chunk is Jeff Cohen’s only live action feature film role to date. He left acting to pursue a law degree and is now a founding partner at an entertainment law firm. 5. Sean Astin's One-Eyed Willy speech was technically improvised. The Goonies location: Mikey’s dad works at ‘Astoria Historical Museum’: Flavel House Museum, 8th Street, Astoria | Photograph: wikimedia / Visitor7

Data’s House is located next to the Goonies house on the same private road. You can just see the corner of Datas house (in blue) to the left of the Goonies house from the lower main road 4 | Mouth’s houseIn the movie Chunk points at the map and says ,"look, look, look. That says 1632. Is that a year or something?" Mouth says, "No, it's your top score on Pole Position." So on my map I included the date: 1632. The screenplay says the map is signed One Eyed Willy so I included his signature as well. The script says One Eye Willy's name is William Pordobel which is a take on Portobelo. Since the map is entirely in Spanish and Latin I changed it to Guillermo Portobelo for the signature.

Next to the Walsh brothers’ house, at number 344 on the same street, there is also the (8) house where Data lives with his family. The proximity of the two houses gives the little genius of Chinese origin the opportunity to test his acrobatic inventions… the imprudent and unorthodox mission “Wings of the Wind” is filmed in the opening bars of the film.

Hey, you guys! Here’s everything you need to know about The Goonies, Richard Donner’s adventure classic. 1. The Goonies was mostly shot on location in Oregon. The map was designed specifically with MAD Magazine in mind, taking inspiration from the magazines' fold-ins. Production designer J. Michael Riva personally aged the map, using mink oil to darken the paper and a Bunsen burner to burn the edges. [1] Trivia [ ] Wilmington, Michael (June 7, 1985). "A Fast-Paced Spielberg Formula For 'Goonies'". Los Angeles Times. Part VI, p. 1, 10. This is easily one of the most recognisable Goonies filming locations in Astoria. The county jail in Astoria was the jailhouse where Jake Fratelli was held until his family helped him escape. It’s possible to visit the cell where he was held and the actual jeep that was used by the Fratellis is usually parked out in front of the jailhouse.

The group eventually discovers that the derelict restaurant is a hideout of the Fratelli crime family: Francis, Jake, and their mother. The Goonies find a tunnel in the basement and follow it, but Chunk leaves to alert the police. When Chunk flags down a motorist to go to the sheriff's station, he gets abducted by the Fratellis and imprisoned with their hulking, deformed, younger brother Sloth. The Fratellis interrogate Chunk until he reveals where the Goonies have gone, and begin pursuit. Chunk is left behind with Sloth, whom he befriends. After Sloth frees both of them, Chunk calls the sheriff, who thinks it is another one of Chunk's tall tales. Chunk and Sloth follow the trail of the Fratellis. We tried really hard, and Steven (Spielberg) said, 'Let's do it.' We had a lot of young writers submit work, but it just didn't seem to call for it. It’s obviously a much longer tunnel than it appears in the film. When they finally emerge into daylight, they’re on the coast of Northern California. I made Muggle Magic's version of the map and then became obsessed with improving it. I scrutinised the movie, frame by frame, and looked at every other replica map I could find on the internet. In case you hadn't noticed, more than one version of the map was used in the movie. When we first see it in the Walsh's attic it is very stained with red ink splatter and spilled wax, and it bears lots of indecipherable text. But when we see it again in the kitchen a few minutes later it looks much cleaner, without the ink splatters and extra text; even the tears in the middle are in different positions. Ecola State Park is home to several Goonies filming locations that visitors will instantly recognise from the movie. On April 27, 2020, through his YouTube channel, Josh Gad aired a virtual cast reunion via Zoom as the first episode of Gad's " Reunited Apart", a charity fundraising effort during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the Goonies reunion supporting the Center for Disaster Philanthropy. All the living primary cast participated, with the event dedicated to the cast members who have since died. In addition to the cast, director Richard Donner, producer Steven Spielberg, and writer Chris Columbus were also present, and even Cyndi Lauper made an appearance. Makeup artists needed five hours every morning to transform the football star into Sloth. 10. Sloth loves Errol Flynn.

The Goonies shot almost entirely in sequence in Astoria, Oregon on a 5-month shooting schedule. Other locations, like the tunnels and the cave with One-Eyed Willy’s pirate ship, were shot on massive sound stages in Burbank, California. 2. The Goonies marked Josh Brolin's movie debut.
