About this deal

Best Friend looked concerned. "You know as well as I do that Nobodies who pursue their Dreams leave Familiar," he said. "They set off like fools into the Unknown, in search of a place where—" The point of the book is very simple. I wasn't looking for complicated, so I appreciate this. I like that it is clear that God can help us with our dreams. I like the emphasis on the importance of dreams as a way to help others. Bigger, better dreams are unselfish. The real enemy who seeks to distract us and divert us from a real passion for God (see I Peter 5:8)

But Ordinary, that journey is anything but sensible or safe. Why leave Familiar? It's so comfortable here. And besides, you've always lived here." If you are a person who has ever doubted your dreams and would like to have any sense of motivation towards your goals, then the Dream Giver is right for you. When I read this book I started to look at my goals, dreams, thoughts, etc. more clearly than I used to. As a believer in God, I found this book helping in a spiritual way. Throughout the book, Ordinary asks for signs of help and even asks for someone to reveal his dream. I've always counted on God to provide a dream for me and bless me with it when the time comes. After reading this book I started to deal with dreams and thoughts in a more... productive way. For me, all big plans, big dreams, big thoughts, etc. come from the Dream Giver, my Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Everyone has a dream, and author Bruce Wilkinson wants to see you achieve yours. The first half of this book is an imaginative fable about a person trying to achieve his dream. This book is like a map to the blossoming forth of long-cherished desires about things you'd like to achieve. Until the day Ordinary noticed a small, nagging feeling that something big was missing from his life. Or maybe the feeling was that he was missing from something big. He wasn't sure. All in all there two ways to look at this work: one is to simply call it a materialistic capitistic ploy of dubious value to rib off unsuspecting and uncritical Christians and the second is to consider it a catalyst towards joining the Holy Spirit in working out your salvation in the areas of this world that have a special draw or attraction on you. A place you've dreamt about. The Dream Giver will help you identify where you have been, where you are today, and where you are headed. It will equip you for part three, which is beyond the covers of this book. Part three is where your personal adventure begins, as you take up your quill and pursue your own Big Dream for God's glory. If you are ready to begin your quest, then you are ready for the Dream Giver. The realization I came to when studying this book was that I am the only one who can fulfill the vision or dream that God has given me and if I fail, then others will be affected as well. It made me realize that I have a lot of responsibility to fulfill the dreams and visions that God has given me. Worldy passions and ambitions that are imposed on us from tv, advertising, movies, etc? (see Titus 2:11-13) It’s time to begin the journey of your life. Let Bruce and Jessica Wilkinson help you find your dream and pursue it on a quest to discover the life you’ve always dreamed of.

Wouldn't it be essential to know the source of my dream prior to pouring everything into it. What if a person spends their whole life climbing a ladder only to find that it was leaning against the wrong wall? The story of Ordinary during part one of the book annoys me a little. It's a little too overt how proper names are also descriptions of each thing. At the same time, the author gets the point across. It doesn't bother me that the author quotes from that story and enlarges on the points he makes in the second half of the book. It's easy to comprehend. I highly recommend the Dream Giver to anyone who is tired of living the status quo and is wanting to step out and try something new in God's power and strength.I frequently give gift copies to those that we do mentoring for because it certainly has the potential to impact those who are ready for the questions and thoughts it will bring up in the reader. Or, consider Mother Teressa. Was her dream to be surrounded by filth, death, and disease? I'd say that wasn't her dream, it was God's dream for her.
