The Name When using Lip Comfort Oil 04 Pitaya, you will experience how the gentle and pleasant texture glides easily on your lips, leaving them silky smooth and supple. This lip oil is enriched with pitaya extract, which adds a natural glow and vitality to your lips. Available in 8 sheer shades—including 5 pH-reactive shades (03 cherry, 04 pitaya, 05 apricot, 08 strawberry & 10 plum) for a custom lip-stain effect. Dior Lip Oils: If you thought about purchasing the Dior Lips Oils, reconsider! They’re not bad, but I would recommend the Clarins Lip Oils over them all day, every day.The finished look is gorgeous, but there’s one downside: It requires a decent amount of re-application, assuming you want to maintain the high-gloss Y2K aesthetic. “It settles onto the lips, which is great for moisture, but if you want the gloss to last it does need reapplication more often,” Thompson-Tubridy tells Bustle. Having worn it out several times now, I don’t have to reapply it for that sheen as often as other glosses, but you can tell when the shine fades. That said, the moisture does last all day and night, so it might not matter if you prioritize moisture over glossiness. Worth It? The Clarins Lip Oils are supposed to be sheer; you’ll get just a hint of color. As I’m applying the product to my lips, I can tell it leaves a soft hint of color though, which I don’t often have with sheer glosses (most of the time, I only see the shine and not the tint) so that was a nice surprise!

After writing all about the main differences between the old oils and the new oils, I wanted to reach out to fellow Beauty Team Member, Hannah, to see what she thinks of the latest version. She’s been using the Honey Lip Oil for over four years, so I was keen to find out how it lived up to the original in the eyes of a dedicated fan. Here’s what she had to say…

Red Berry: The old No. 3 was the most red-toned shade available, so the best replacement for this shade is 03 – Cherry, the deepest red in the current line-up. If you want more of a subtle pinky-red shade, opt for 08 – Strawberry instead. For extra conditioning care, honey shade (01) can be used as an overnight sleep mask. Benefits The formula glides on, looks high-shine immediately, and instantly nourishes my lips. After the Lip Oils fade, you’re left with smooth and soft lips. They felt more hydrated afterward, so that’s a good thing. Clarins is not considered cruelty-free. Even though Clarins claims to be cruelty-free, they have admitted to testing on animals where required by law. This makes Clarins not cruelty-free. But the most significant thing about the redesign is the new-and-improved cushioning applicator; its large, comfortable surface offers precise yet speedy application as it hugs the lips for a sweep of sheer colour. Fans of the original 01 – Honey and 02 – Raspberry will be glad to hear the namesakes for these shades remain. 03 – Red Berry, 04 – Candy, 05 – Tangerine, 06 – Mint and 07 – Honey Glam have disappeared as we once knew them, and they’ve been replaced by 03 – Cherry, 04 – Pitaya, 05 – Apricot, 08 – Strawberry, 09 – Chocolate and 10 – Plum. The Clarins Lip Oil now has a more streamlined and sophisticated design. Compared to their earlier look, the oils are now round in shape and swap out the initial gold touches for a more elegant silver hue on the applicator handle. Notably, the writing has been removed from the side to allow you to see the oils in all their glory, while Clarins’ name now adorns the top of the tube, just below the applicator handle. Raspberry: This shade name remains with this variation of 02 – Raspberry offering a subtle pink tint.Honey Glam: This time around, Clarins have decided against using golden glitter particles in their oil, so unfortunately, there isn’t a direct switch for No. 7. However, 01 – Honey has a similar undertone (just without the shimmer). Alternatively, if you loved the more glamorous side of Honey Glam, then go for one of the more statement shades in the mix: 10 – Plum. Clarins’ statement about if they have any vegan products: “My Clarins is free of all animal-derived ingredients like beeswax, carmine, lanolin, etc. Clarins has deliberately chosen to only distribute My Clarins to countries that do not require animal testing.” Where To Buy Honey: As you’d guess, the best shade to go for is 01 – Honey. It might look like golden honey in the tube, but it has a clear finish once applied.
