About this deal

Boarding Patrol: Tyranids provides a balanced force of hungry Tyranids infantry, perfectly suited to ripping apart foes or firing grotesque bio-weapons in games of Warhammer 40,000 – especially in the dense and deadly Boarding Action missions detailed in the Arks of Omen series – and will save you money compared to buying the kits individually. There’s much profit to be found in the esoteric salvage secreted aboard these rotting void-barges – and you can acquire it for the glory of your own Hold with five cybernetically-enhanced Cthonian Beserks, five diamond-hard Einhyr Hearthguard, and 10 geared-up Hearthkyn Warriors, all led by a proud Einhyr Champion. It’s a big day for Warhammer 40,000 boxed sets, as two more factions join the Boarding Patrol collective and the new Desolation Squad and Brutalis Dreadnought of Strike Force Agastus arrive for frontline duty. Oof. Falls a bit short of the 500 point requirement for a Boarding Force, doesn’t it? And none of these units have any upgrades or add-ons to pad out any points costs, so there’s really little else to say here – you’ll still need to buy an extra kit to get to that 500 point mark! I’d recommend another 10 Bloodletters as that will get you 500 points exactly. That stinks a bit, and not in the Nurgley way. Again, perhaps that Chaos Daemons Combat Patrol is looking a little more appealing now…

In a world of bloody Boarding Actions, it’s easy to forget the colossal battles that define the 41st Millennium are still taking place. Balefleets are the cohorts raised by Abaddon and Vashtorr, tasked with collecting the artefacts needed to complete their meticulous plan. The Brutalis Dreadnought is a powerful melee cousin of the Redemptor that can rip vehicles apart with shredding talons, or lay into foes with a pair of fists fitted with twin bolt rifles. The Desolation Squad can meanwhile arm themselves either with superfrag missiles for blasting infantry or superkrak missiles for busting tanks – with indirect-fire castellan launchers on the side. Rules for playing Boarding Action games of Warhammer 40,000 can be found in the Arks of Omen: Abaddon supplement. Additional rules for Chaos Space Marines Boarding Patrols can be found in Arks of Omen: Angron. Is The Chaos Boarding Patrol Box Worth it?

As a great starting point, this box gets you a good selection of chaff and the big bad leader himself if you haven’t gotten him yet! Boarding Patrol: Tyranids Currently, while we know the prices for most of the boxes, we’ll also have all of the new boxes listed, value-wise, for you below! One more thing to note, these are all valued with the updated 2023 GW pricing.

Two squads of three highly customisable Tyranid Warriors provide an adaptable, formidable core to claim the Ark. Meanwhile, eight fast-moving Genestealers – fielded as a squad of five – act as an insidious vanguard to a towering Broodlord.Chaos Cultists: These expendable troops are armed with brutal assault weapons and autopistols, making them ideal for overwhelming enemy positions through sheer numbers. They are perfect for leading the charge into enemy lines, soaking up enemy fire and drawing attention away from your more valuable units. Chaos Space Marine Legionaries: These elite fighters are equipped with a variety of ranged and close combat weapons, making them highly versatile on the battlefield. They can be split into two squads of five, making them perfect for manoeuvring through tight spaces during boarding actions.

Abaddon is truly a nightmare on the board – with the Terminator keyword, he can go into reserve and deep strike wherever on the board in the next turn, so you have the option to place him next to a strategic point at a later point in the game. If there is an unclaimed objective too far for the opposing player to reach, Abaddon can be there in a hot minute. To maximise him properly, you may have to forego deep striking and keep him with the lads Legionaries to buff them up with hit re-rolls and wound re-rolls, buffs to charge rolls and a myriad of other abilities that justify his expense. He’s also been given the Agents of Chaos keyword, meaning he can be dropped into a Death Guard, Thousands Sons or World Eaters army (though that may come at an expense of some abilities in those respective armies, be warned). And to top it off, he cannot lose more than 3 wounds in a given turn, and his statline is eye-watering. Taller de juegos have really despoiled us with this one. The Tyranids aren’t terribly bothered by the exact state of galactic geopolitics at present – they just like a ready supply of tasty biomass, and a space hulk to ride around in. Their Boarding Patrol contains six adaptable Tyranid Warriors to split into squads of three, eight fast-moving Genestealers, and a fearsome Broodlord to direct them all. As we said, this has a bit of a random assortment of models, but the value is definitely there! This actually rivals some of the better boxes from Christmas, so if you need all the models inside, this is totally worth grabbing, as you basically get two boxes of Possessed for free! It also contains the new Daemon Prince, which is quite pricey to grab on its own, so that’s very nice. Chaos Daemons have – appropriately, given the arrival of Angron – manifested as a huffing and slavering crash of Khornate nightmares. 10 Bloodletters and 10 Flesh Hounds are led by Khorne’s favourite hunter – Karanak, the Hound of Vengeance. In the cramped confines of a space hulk, these frenzied killers will close the distance between enemy guns with warp-flushed speed and savagery. For a staggering ten thousand years, the Chaos Space Marines have been waging relentless war against the galaxy that once welcomed them.
