Within is the Casio Edifice EFV-110D. According to some outlets, this is a women’s or unisex watch, though most retailers do have this listed as a men’s watch. Personally, given the styling, I can’t imagine a woman wearing this despite the small size. Part of the popular ‘Edifice’ line of wristwatches, Casio has produced another astoundingly good watch for very little money. The EFV-100 series boasts among the best finishing and performance available at its price point. On-wrist, these sports watches look like they’re worth far more, with an aesthetic that reminds me of the Rolex Explorer, with a gorgeous high-shine bezel and sunburst dial.

Reconozco que lo compré pensando que no me iba a gustar, que iba a sentir que llevaba una versión cutre del Omega Aquaterra, o del Rolex Oyster Perpetual, pero la verdad es que me ha encantado. Evidentemente las características de este Casio son muy distintas: no lleva cristal de zafiro sino mineral (pero no lo hecho de menos), tampoco lleva un carísimo movimiento mecánico in-house sino un barato pero muy preciso y confiable movimiento de cuarzo (y lo prefiero), por esto último el segundero avanza segundo a segundo y no a 8 pasos por segundo (reconozco que eso sí que me gustaría, pero bueno...), y donde realmente creo que se nota la diferencia es en la cadena metálica (armis) que no tiene eslabones sólidos y cuando la mueves suena un poquito cutre (incluso chirría un poco a veces). I stumbled upon a review of the Casio Edifice EFV-110d (the baby brother) by The Slender Wrist and being a fan of the smaller timepiece thought i'd give it a go...well after much excitement ripping open the box, to my dismay was a watch that was just too small for my 7 inch wrists. The combination of sporty looks, thinness, tapering 18mm bracelet and 41mm lug to lug was just didnt look right, and I have happily worn 33mm vintage pieces before. Was haben wir noch? Eine schraubbare Krone (!), 10 ATM Wasserdichtigkeit und einen verschraubten Gehäuseboden. Das alles haben etliche teurere Uhren nicht. Beim Uhrenglas handelt es sich um Mineralglas, was zwar hin und wieder kritisiert wird, für mich in dieser Preislage aber vollkommen in Ordnung geht. Man sollte das nur bedenken, wenn man z.B. plant, die Uhr regelmäßig bei handwerklichen Aktivitäten zu tragen.I know this is a very subjective review but seriously, after years of agonising over the best Swiss movements, complications, sapphire crystals, solid bracelets, end links and milled clasps, COSC certifications, in house calibres, this has made me realise what is important in a wrist watch, its pulled me out of the rabbit hole of watch obsession:

The dial aesthetics are down to your personal preference. Personally, I’d say I prefer that MTS-100L, though not by much, both are very handsome watches. Obviously, that watch also has the sapphire crystal, which will inherently give you better scratch resistance than the mineral found in this watch. However, this watch has a better strap, or bracelet in this case. The case finishing is sharper and better too and the extra water resistance could certainly come in handy if you’re after a do-it all watch.

A luminous coating provides long-term illumination in the dark after only a short exposure to light. The screw connection on the base of the housing optimally protects the inner workings of the watch and simultaneously provides easy access, when changing the battery for example. Accuracy - this watch is more accurate than any COSC certified watch I've owned, it keeps -2 seconds every couple of weeks. Perfect for swimming and snorkelling: the watch is water resistant to 10 bar according to ISO 22810. Luxury or necessity? Since the launch of mobile phones, purchasing a wristwatch is more or less confined to those who regard them as fashion accessories. Will Casio's timepiece be your new "must-have"?
