About this deal

Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. To be fair, I haven’t watched it in nearly a decade so I could be remembering things wrong, but I was a bit disappointed in the lack of Totoro in these pages. Unfortunately, this depiction is closer to the truth in most Asian households which are traditionally patriarchal. I know this book wasn't written by Hayao Miyazaki but Tsugiko Kubo did an amazing job at writing this book. Mei falls asleep on Satsuki's back and Totoro appears beside them, allowing Satsuki to see him for the first time. Giving a new depth to this beautiful tale, this Studio Ghibli story has taken on a new lease of life in this re-telling; highly recommended for fans of Studio Ghibli stories. In 2001, Japanese magazine Animage ranked My Neighbor Totoro 45th in its list of 100 Best Anime Productions of All Time. This was sweet as a novelisation of one of my favourite childhood movies but also fantastic as a middle grade novel in its own right.

Mei and the Kittenbus ( めいとこねこバス, Mei to Konekobasu) is a thirteen-minute sequel to My Neighbor Totoro that was written and directed by Miyazaki. This prestige edition features original illustrations by Miyazaki himself, accompanying a story written by veteran children's book author Tsugiko Kubo. When Mei goes missing, it’s up to Satsuki to find her sister, and she’ll need help from some new, and magical, friends.A Study of Japanese Animation as Translation: A Descriptive Analysis of Hayao Miyazaki and Other Anime Dubbed Into English. Tokuma later released another 176-page art book containing conceptual art from the film and interviews with production staff on July 15, 1988, and, in English translation, by Viz on November 8, 2005. As is the case when comparing books with their movie adaptations, the first thing that I did was to compare how the book religiously described and captured what was depicted in the film. This prestige, hardcover edition features original illustrations by Miyazaki himself, accompanying a story written by veteran children’s book author Tsugiko Kubo.
