About this deal

In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail—just as she chronicles what happens when the dream finally comes true. I'm still forming this idea - these thoughts and feelings - and they are: narcissists may not be able to be trusted but they deserve pity, compassion, empathy, even if we can't get too close.

Now, without having to appease a controlling mother, Jennette is able to live her life in a way she chooses to, discovering her true identity.Striking some kind of a balance between complex carbohydrates and protein is key, perhaps panning from one to the other (if not in tandem), but proteins are integral. It's such a funny, dark, moving, honest, real, uncensored book, and it's unlike anything I've ever read. The new memoir from former child star Jennette McCurdy has an attention-grabbing title: I’m Glad My Mom Died .

We gain a greater appreciation of what it takes to become famous, and the abusive mother-daughter relationship McCurdy endured as well as further insight into her state of mind throughout the book. McCurdy had previously written pieces in publications such as The Wall Street Journal and began writing personal essays shortly after. We are experiencing delays with deliveries to many countries, but in most cases local services have now resumed.

Being able to navigate these two viewpoints can be the most beneficial place for an abused child to navigate. Dave Itzkoff of The New York Times wrote that the memoir was, "A coming-of-age story that is alternately harrowing and mordantly funny. From going along with the 'calorie restriction' her Mum put into place to weighing herself fives times a day, suffering endless and extensive home makeovers, eyelash tinting, and being showered by her mother until the age of 16 - you name it she did it.Net's mom is on a regime of hot tea every morning for breakfast, nothing else and nothing in the tea, and a plate of steamed vegetables every night for dinner, plain, nothing on them.

I'm Glad My Mom Died is an inspiring story of resilience, independence, and the joy of shampooing your own hair.

Throughout, Jennette explores what it means to have such complicated grief now her mother isn't here, and the liberation that comes with the new found freedom, all the way down to being able to wash her own hair. Despite everything, there is a love there - from daughter to mother and from mother to daughter (and sons). When your parent has narcissistic traits, you’re often pulled further than the love a child has for their mother because they make you their sole source of companionship and emotional support. In the book, which was released 9 August, McCurdy details the emotional and physical abuse she suffered at the hands of her mother, Debra. But McCurdy, though initially completely lost after the eventual death of her mother, becomes so much happier, healthier, and very deservedly, independent.
