About this deal

This is the Special Collectors edition of The Devil's Playground, limited to 100 copies, SIGNED and numbered by Nan Goldin. Since the 1980s Goldin's photographs have been exhibited internationally, at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in California, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Museu Reina Sofia in Madrid.

She has since lived in New York, Bangkok, Berlin, Tokyo and Paris, amassing an extensive body of work that represents an often disconcertingly seductive photographic portrait of our time.Beautifully bound in red cloth, it was issued in a specially made box together with an original print entitled, "Guido floating, Levanzo, Sicily, 1999. Goldin’s art is also one of the clearest manifestations of the vitality of the realist tradition today, that tradition in literature and painting where everyday life and the most humble of beings are represented with dignity. However, in the postmodern era of the society of spectacle, it increasingly has become a technique for inventing a parallel reality, a fiction, or a simulacrum.

At first, the book introduces itself with pictures of ocean and nature in general, which are like the calm before the storm. Neu Neuware, Importqualität, auf Lager, Sofortversand - - The most significant book published to date on Nan Goldin (b. The storm comes with personal family pictures, which at first looked like a usual family album pictures… but that was exactly the problem (? Without reading about the book beforehand and finding information about what the series of photographs included in this book are, I jumped right into viewing. This chapter was hard for me to go through in the library, having people around me, watching me watch other people being naked in a personal and intimate moment. This monograph brings to light both the sources of Goldin's inspiration and her life as a prominent contemporary artist: she is internationally recognized as one of today's leading photographers.

Since the early 1970s, Goldin has taken numerous photographs of her friends and 'family', which form a unique corpus of work. In recent years, Goldin also has photographed magical landscapes like the intensely blue sea in a grotto in Capri, the Stromboli volcano steaming at dawn, ex-votos in Somma Vesuviana, or the smoking tar pits of Solfatara near Pozzuoli. Gebraucht - Gut GU - Beschädigungen, Verschmutzungen, ungelesenes Mängelexemplar, gestempelt, Versand Büchersendung - - The most significant book published to date on Nan Goldin (b. Since the 1980s, Goldin has consistently created photographs that are intimate and compelling: they tell personal stories of relationships, friendships and identity, while chronicling different eras and exposing the passage of time.Born in Washington DC, Goldin grew up in Boston where she began taking photographs at the age of 15.

Looking through a camera placed in people’s houses and rooms to observe the usual moments of their life. Since the mid-1990s, Goldin’s images have become more tender and more infused with light, more about connection than alienation. Titled “ I’ll Be Your Mirror“, it brought together powerful images expressing the range of joys and sorrows that her work had reflected up to then.

At the same time, her art visualizes what characterizes personal memory and distinguishes it from the collective – the way we have of ‘filing away’ life in idiosyncratic fashion, like a fluid and changing universe of traces and details, and without objective relationships of scale among the various memories.
