One such method that has lasted for centuries is the act of storytelling, which for African Americans over the years has taken many forms ranging from work songs, spirituals, and slave narratives to dramas, poetry, and novels. Growing up in the 90s, I hated how everything was aggressively gendered and color-coded: toys, clothes, your entire existence. Also, an estimated eight thousand workers reported working the fields during Aster’s shift, with two of the Tarland decks represented (70). A joyful baby refuses to conform to the gender binary and instead chooses toys, colors, and clothes that make them feel happy. Through Aster’s exploration, An Unkindness of Ghosts becomes a counter-story of gender and sexuality.

Fans of Feminist Baby by Loryn Brantz will love this board book about gender expression and being true to oneself. The idea is good, the execution just feels like it came from BuzzFeed, and no, that's not a compliment. Some of the data that are collected include the number of visitors, their source, and the pages they visit anonymously. So while I would encourage parents to not shove their kids into pink or blue boxes, I also don't want to limit their naming options to Adrian or Morgan or Riley. However, I could see actually reading this book to a baby way sooner than some of the themed board books out there like "Astrophysics for Babies. You couldn't just be a child, you had to be a GIRL (pink, princesses, dresses, ballerinas, etc) or a BOY (blue, sports, trucks, dinosaurs, etc) long before you even have the ability to express who you are or what you like. Baby's parents are going to let them figure out who they are on their own in this progressive board book. On a stroller ride outdoors, the talkative infant, portrayed with light brown skin, answers the question “Boy. With an Afrofuturist structure, Solomon pushes for a new vision of Black people’s subjectivity, and agency develops within and against systems that seek to deny them such.

If they're being supportive they're taking a snarky and sarcastic tone which does absolutely nothing at all to educate or inform. This is true in some cases but all kids are different, and all of them deserve to see themselves represented in their favorite books. Rotating around the ship’s artificial sun, known as Baby Sun or Baby, the Field Decks are described by Aster as being “of varying size, each of them a different field, forest, or orchard” (73). Flick and Aster are united through their shared social status; both are lowerdeckers and belong to the Tarlander classification. Bye Bye, Binary is an adorable book that lets the reader see the joy in allowing people to love what they love, regardless of expectations.

Charlene Chua (pronounced: CHOO-ah) (she/they) has illustrated many things over the years for kids of all ages. This book is a great and simple way to teach kids about gender norms in the easiest way possible, and everyone expresses themselves in different ways and all of them are unique and OK.

This baby is figuring out who they are and is not about to choose pink or blue, bows or bow ties, and certainly not boy or girl. The author should be ashamed of himself for writing this garbage and nobody should tolerate this garbage near their own children whether at school or otherwise. Valentine’s Day brings a shy child named Violet the chance to connect with her crush, Mira, in Sullivan Wild’s uplifting wintry tale. Although the book is not trying to convince anybody, families who are eager to let their child figure thing out on their own will be happy with this title. While the characters operate within their own futuristic chattel slavery society, they also engage with conversations on gender and sexuality that dominate our present-day discourse.

Polly, a bespectacled child with dark brown pigtails and warm brown skin, is “tired of hearing what girls can’t do. I am seeing alot of hate comments on this book saying "boys want to grow up to be big strong men, why are we just confusing kids with this nonsense? Her illustration work has won several awards including the Stonewall Award, while books she has illustrated have been nominated for OLA Forest of Reading, USBBY Outstanding International Books, OLA Best Bets, Shining Willow Award, and Kirkus Best Books. However, all are put in peril as a problem with the Matilda’s energy source causes a series of blackouts. Thing is, it's a tough thing to start with babies, as the vast majority of names are inherently gendered.

This has a great message for young children, telling them that they can be whatever they want, especially for children born outside of the binary. A joyful baby refuses to conform to the gender binary and instead chooses toys, colours, and clothes that make them happy. I think, especially at the age this book is geared towards, sexuality or gender shouldn’t be pushed at all.
