About this deal

Although several demos from Stewart's time with Genesis appear on the Genesis Archive 1967-75 box set, he is not credited with playing on any of them. He describes the farm he and his long suffering but supportive wife, Ana and their daughter live in, with no running water or electrics not to mention a phone. It is fact part sequel - further (mis)adventures of Chris and his family in their remote Andalusian farm - and part prequel, looking back on Chris' previous lives, drumming with the teenage Genesis and in a circus, shearing sheep in midwinter Sweden and heading off to Spain to learn flamenco guitar.

Stewart appears on the band's first two singles, "The Silent Sun"/"That's Me" and "A Winter's Tale"/"One-Eyed Hound. Chris Stewart shot to fame with Driving Over Lemons (9780956003805) - Sort Of Books' launch title in 1999.The solar power system had given out and we moved like ghosts through the grey gloom or by the light of a few feeble candle-stubs. Following in the footsteps of his first book, here we have another delightful sojourn at El Valero, in the Las Alpujarras in Spain - at the eco friendly home of Chris, Ana and their five year old daughter Chloë. A Parrot in the Pepper Tree, the sequel to Lemons, follows the lives of Chris, Ana and their daughter, Chloe, as they get to grips with a misanthropic parrot who joins their home, Spanish school life, neighbours in love, journalists beating a path to their door .

Three years on A Parrot in the Pepper Tree follows the lives of Chris, Ana and their daughter, Chloe, on their farm, as they get to grips with a misanthropic parrot who joins their home, Spanish school life, neighbours in love, Journalists beating a path to their door .

I would have hoped for a third book to resolve this dire threat, but Parrot was published 20 years ago, so it's doubtful the third book is in the offing. and the shock of discovering that their beloved valley might once more be under the threat of being engulfed by a dam. Porca is a Monk or Quaker Parakeet and he just turned up on the farm one day, landed on Ana’s shoulder and decided there and then to move in with us. Whereas Driving Over Lemons recounted the arrival of Chris Stewart and his wife at El Valero, the focus of Stewart's sequel, A Parrot in the Pepper Tree, is broader and more ambitious. This sequel follows the lives of Chris, Ana and their daughter, Chloe, as they get to grips with a misanthropic parrot who joins their home, Spanish school life, neighbours in love, their amazement at Chris appearing on the bestseller lists … and their shock at discovering that their beloved valley is once more under threat of a dam.
