About this deal

Much to Justice’s delight, the taxi driver who picked her up from the station lets slip that his brother, the local undertaker, recently had cause to visit the school. She has certainly landed in the perfect atmosphere for a mystery at Highbury House Boarding School for the Daughters of Gentlefolk. Justice is convinced that one of the teachers at the school is involved in the smuggling operation and sets out to find the evidence to prove it. Justice is a curious, clever, determined super-sleuth who is intent on solving the mystery of the murdered maid which leads to her tenaciously following her suspicions … and uncovering hidden secrets. There's a bit of Enid Blyton, a bit of St Trinians, a simple mystery where the young protagonist is smarter than the adults.

There was, of course, the stereotypical bully, horrible food, and midnight feasts, but that's what makes a good, fictional boarding school, and a good story! I came across this one in the library, yes, they are updating their not so big English collection, and of course I had to bring this with me. Justice's roommates are all from different backgrounds and have different personalities that I look forward to learning more about in subsequent books. Justice doesn’t know who to trust, and then when a second death occurs while the school is cut off from the surrounding area by a heavy snowfall, the stakes are immediately raised. She has also written several standalone novels, including The Stranger Diaries and The Postscript Murders.

But dismay quickly gives way to intrigue as she finds herself drawn to Mr Arthur and his stories of piloting in the First World War - and especially when Dorothy, who lives nearby, tells her that the lodge is haunted. Justice is a mature girl, older than her years because of her upbringing, and has a great determination to solve puzzles. Det var disse notater Griffiths brugte som udgangspunkt til historierne om Justice og hendes kostskoleliv i den mere farlige ende af skalaen. But dismay quickly gives way to intrigue as she finds herself drawn to Mr Arthur and his stories of piloting in the First World War – and especially when Dorothy, who lives nearby, tells her that the lodge is haunted. Justice’s suspicious mind – from her father’s profession and her mother’s crime writing career – had her wondering at murder.

The third book in the series sees Justice and her friends investigating a ghostly presence that has been reported in the gardens of Highbury House. I’ve enjoyed watching Justice grow and mature in her time at Highbury, and it seems her father made a wise choice indeed in sending her there. This is not intended to be a full statement of all your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations.I will include posts on upcoming books to help readers keep abreast of new publications and their dates. Justice and her crew must take everyone now residing at the school into consideration for a possible link to the disappearance. It was a chance remark of my husband's that gave me the idea for the first in the series, The Crossing Places. This is a charming book, led by its wonderful protagonist (if you like Flavia de Luce, you’ll love Justice).

I know I have started the reviews for the first three Justice Jones mysteries by Elly Griffiths with a gushing statement of affection, and I’m about to go full-on gush for number four, The Spy at the Window. They find out at the end that Matron killed Miss Thomas because once when Mis Thomas was the games teacher, she rescued Justice's friend Rose's mum from a snowstorm but left Matron's daughter who died. Meet Justice, a girl who has to go to a boarding school when her mom dies (her mom gave her homeschooling (which is still such a foreign concept to me)) and it is going to be a change for her.The first line of the book sets the tone from the off, ‘ As soon as she saw the school, Justice Jones knew that it had the potential for murder. Our Non-Fiction Range includes: Academic, Photography, Audio books, Business, Cook Books, Craft Books, Health and Fitness Books, Mind, Body, Spirit (Tarot). Man fornemmer tydeligt, at forfatterens normale målgruppe er mere voksne mennesker, men det fornægter sig ikke, at Griffiths har en fænomenal evne for at skrive både dramatisk og fængslende.
