About this deal
The way this book is written is so unique, it’s a beautiful story that honestly makes you feel so many emotions, I couldn’t put the book down and ended up finishing it in one day.
It's beautifully written, simply told from a teenage girls POV and perfectly so where at times I felt I was reading a journal or I was inside Autumn's head. At home, they continue to celebrate holidays together with their families, even though things are awkward between the two of them.Along with the month comes new releases from favorite authors, a horrifying debut and a BookTok favorite, making our most anticipated Young Adult books a group of must-have titles.
I was quickly intrigued, as the anticipation of learning the full context of Finny’s death presented a successful hook and compelled me to continue reading the book. Well this review is going to be different because I will be telling you how I felt as I explain the basis for this beautiful tragic love story filled with me wanting more "time" if only there was more time; although I knew before the book started heck even if I didn't the first chapter alone showed me what would end up happening. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Both characters need each other to move on from their issues but disaster strikes and everything changes. Told through Autumn’s perspective, the story takes readers through a journey of a teenager battling with internal and societal expectations. If Nowlin was attempting to make Autumn relatable to her readers, she went about it terribly, as Autumn’s narrative felt incredibly repetitive. However, Autumn’s friends support her desire to wear tiaras, even adding to her collection on birthdays and holidays.
So it came as no surprise that when the ending did finally come, I found myself choked up all over again. Junior year brings about a lot of change, most notably the securing of driver’s licenses among both Autumn and Finny’s friends. At the end of senior year, Autumn's boyfriend breaks up with her, and Finny's girlfriend travels to Europe. Autumn's coming-of-age is sensitively chronicled, with a wide range of experiences and events shaping her character. At the end, when Nowlin reveals why Finny should have been with Autumn all along, readers are sure to feel the ache of life’s capriciousness. And I’m also even more mad because there are some sweet quotes here about Autumn's POV when it comes to how she views Finn and how she feels about him but it’s also buried in all the other mundane parts of the book.
