About this deal

During my University years I held a variety of odd jobs, ranging from flipping burgers to being part of an all male exotic dancing group. With time running out and another victim sure to be targeted by the killer soon, Hunter will have to try to stay one step ahead.

Detective Robert Hunter was seen some of the world’s worst sadist and psychotic killers in his time with the LAPD Ultra Violent Crime Division but in Genesis he is going to come up against a killer like no one before, a killer that is twisted and evil beyond imagination. This is the work of a psychopath and someone devoid of human emotion, remorse, or empathy, not the work of a vengeful person no matter what drove them to seek retribution. With no forensic evidence to go on, Robert Hunter must catch the most disciplined and systematic killer that he has ever encountered, someone who thrives on. As a member of the District Attorney's Criminal Psychology team, and working together with the Police Department in numerous cases, he interviewed and studied many criminals, including serial and multiple homicide offenders with life imprisonment convictions. If your first thought wasn’t about the new book from bestselling author, it certainly will be after you read it. That in no way takes away from the brilliance of the writing and storytelling and for once, when Hunters seasoned partner Garcia utters his “you’ve gotta be kidding me “ type comments that frequent all these books has a case in point! Every time my phone pinged with a message my heart sped up (you'll understand what I mean if you read the book). You can’t really go into any detail about this book and the title without major spoilers so I obviously won’t.

The methods and signature of the murder differs, but the level of violence used suggests that the same person is behind both crimes.

Another problem - when you finish one, it can take you ages to find something else remotely that good. As always there is a reason for the " punishments", being careful with wording as too much gives the game.A superb storyteller that keeps you hooked even though you don’t want to continue reading the story, because ‘you need to know what happens and why! But this discovery does more than just link the two killings – it suggests that this is the work of a serial murderer. I worked as a criminal psychologist for several years before moving to Los Angeles, where I swapped the suits and briefcases for ripped jeans, bandanas and an electric guitar. Ever since I picked up The Crucifix Killer I have been hooked on this author and have sailed through all his books, including Genesis.

When other killings occur with completely different motives, it is only the line of poetry that connects them all together.

Some readers may find the murders quite gruesome, but the scenes are needed to portray the reasoning behind them and to elevate the book above others. The killer is brutal, the victims are very different from each other and how they are killed yet Garcia and Hunter know they are related because of something the killer leaves at each scene. The dedication which starts this book is such an important message also and it is fantastic that there are avenues for help listed at the back with contact details for anyone in crisis and who needs them. If the violence had been toned down somewhat to match the original crime, then for the plot and storytelling, I would not have hesitated in giving this 5 stars. užfiksuotas žiaurumas buvo toks nežmoniškas, toks išgrynintas ir toks pasibjaurėtinas, kad detektyvą iki kaulų smegenų persmelkė šaltis, o kūną nukrėtė šiurpas.
