So maybe “fated” is too strong a word, but it seems analogous to love at first sight, which is not a trope that works well for me in general. She is a curious student who wants to know about pleasure and he is a patient teacher who knows everything she wants to learn. Adria and Martin’s relationship was explained more in this book, and I liked that Martin, while not as strong as Adria needed him to be, turned out to be a more worthwhile person than he’d seemed based on what we heard about him in Play of Passion. However, the process is anything but smooth, leaving Scarlett confused and torn between her emotions and the consequences of Charles’ indecision.

CG: I think it is addressed but whether it will be addressed to the reader’s satisfaction will depend on the individual reader and what they are looking for. Jennie: 3) I find the over-the-top possessiveness of heroes in this series less and less attractive; so often the language is the same as one would expect to find from an obsessed stalker.Jennie: For not much reason that I could figure, it’s then another 80 pages – a good 1/3 into the book – before Riaz and Adria give into their pounding lust for each other (lust we hear about at length throughout) and decide on a sort of friends-with-benefits arrangement. I was torn between liking the bittersweetness of their story and at times feeling that Adria was second best in Riaz’s heart. Despite being dense, he knows the heriones are in love with him because of the system, and he later on knows that he needs to properly seduce them 'to save the world' but he just half baked his attempt, sometimes not attempting at all and even being avoidance instead.

All of the changeling books extol the virtues of the mating bond ad nauseam, yet now it’s okay to turn away from the most precious gift a changeling could ever receive? I originally graded it a B, but I lowered my grade to a B- after I realized I wasn’t sure whether or not I’d want to reread this one. With a diverse bunch of characters interacting with each other and a good number of them being yanderes, chaos ensues. Jennie: This is apparently the 11 th book in the Psy/Changeling series (at least according to Wikipedia, which as we all know, is never wrong). If you're giving it a shot, my advise is to read while turning off most parts of your brain and you'll enjoy some parts of it despite the chaos.
