About this deal

It’s taken me so long to read Clockwork Angel, what with being back to school for the unforeseeable future and having no time to read and the when I do I’ve forgotten who all the characters are. When Will arrives at the Institute, he's just in time to witness Thomas's death and after thanking him for everything that he has done, goes on to look for Tessa and the others. Even tho this book has a love triangle, which I truly hate, the relationships in this book are great. Tessa is "not like other girls," only she is, because her only personality trait is "I'm in love with books," which I'm feeling rather defensive about. Dark, who force her to learn her previously unknown ability to shapeshift at the threat of Nate's safety.

One must always be careful of books,” said Tessa, “and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us. On the other hand, Tessa was also looking for her brother in London, said brother was also kidnapped by the villain, later Tessa also found out her brother had hidden a secret from her. The "additional" characters, the ones that feature but aren't hugely important, are equally exciting. The two discover that de Quincey's hostage is Nate, before alerting the Enclave to appear and kill most of the vampires, save de Quincey. There are book talks that will warm every bookworm’s heart, there is the first mention of “demon pox”, an MC that adores chocolate so much that he thinks people who don’t eat it are monsters and cannibal ducks that lead to the Herondale’s secret motto of “Never trust a duck.

Not to mention her foreshadowing, which kind of reminded me of playing hide-and-seek with a little kid.

Besides the ugly-shaming and pretentious attitude, she has to pull an I'm-So-Sorry and moan on and on about how personally responsible she feels for the grievous paper cut of Jem Carstairs and the fact that "none of this would have happened if you had kicked me out" and how "this is all my fault.Unaware of what happened in the attic, Jem tries to cheer Tessa up and takes her to his favorite place in London, the Blackfriars Bridge.

Everyone: Will, Jem, Charlotte, Henry, all of these supposedly seasoned Shadowhunters, turned out to be complete FOOLS, who are ill informed, who can also be easily tricked and manipulated. The character building that they actually DO have only exists because she did the work years ago (on top of another author's pre-existing characters) – otherwise they’d be little more animated than the clockwork automatons that appear in this story. Okay, in case I didn’t make my feelings clear on liking Jem more than Will, I figured I would talk a little bit more about it. Tessa notices, however, that even though Will claimed he was drunk, there was no smell of alcohol around him.

When Charlotte bluffs and threatens to unleash the wrath of the Clave by summoning them with Henry's invention, the " Summoner", Mortmain fearfully names the Magister as a vampire named de Quincey, who Charlotte recognizes as the head of a powerful London vampire clan, and who also happens to be an influential Downworlder and apparent ally of the Clave. However, they find out too late that they had fallen into a trap: Mortmain and Nate, who are working together, lured most of the Shadowhunters away from the Institute so they can get their hands on Tessa, and Mortmain, and not de Quincey, is the real identity of the Magister.

Since then I have completed the first three books in that series and before I knew it, it was time to reread Clockwork Angel. Jessamine believes that a lady's job was not to fight but to get married and carry out womanly duties. Meanwhile, Tessa Gray, still grieving from the death of her Aunt Harriet Moore, has just arrived from New York City to Southampton to stay her brother, Nate. All of them are fleshed out, with secrets, histories and motives for everything they do, even the minor characters all have an important part to play but each uniquely different. But as much as I will give credit to this author for giving rep in the 2000s that other authors didn’t have the guts to do, I did feel like I was side-eyeing all the Asian rep in this book. First in Cassandra Clare's internationally bestselling Infernal Devices trilogy about the Shadowhunters. Oh, now I can see that all these Shadowhunters are a bunch of wimps, they can't even stop a rude girl from insulting their own guest, and we're supposed to believe they are the fierce protectors who stood between humans and demons? However, the sacrificial lamb is revealed to be Nate and Tessa impulsively blows her cover to save him.
