To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Carolyn Dean has played a major role in bringing attention to the importance of magnesium, and this throughout her career as a medical practitioner, teaching patients, colleagues and the general public about the consequences of magnesium deficiency and the amazing---indeed miraculous---benefits of magnesium supplementation.

Read this book and you may think it's just another snake-oil seller situation because its claims may seem too good to be true but I for one think it is better to try natural methods before resorting to drugs. In fact the author lists 68 common complaints caused by lack of magnesium and cites various medications also causing such lack. Also magnesium is required for adequate blood sugar control (can't remember reading that in any of the many diabetes books I've read and reviewed! This book lists case studies where fatigue, headaches or anxiety were cured just with magnesium supplementation.

For anyone who is not aware, MS does a real number on the central nervous system, and since all muscle function is a result of nerve action, as soon as the nerve action starts to go south, so does muscle function.

I had actually bypassed the forms of magnesium which could cause me diarrhea, like the citrate, after working on a review of Natural Calm from the company Natural Vitality. Because of the constant litany of "take calcium, prevent osteoporosis" over the last few years, most people are getting way too much calcium in their diets and they are also supplementing – – and this has been quite detrimental to blood vessels and hearts and kidneys. Very instructive, but probably too detailed for some and a bit repetitive in places, perhaps intentionally so. The book also explains why taking standard calcium supplements is dangerous and why calcium should only be taken in through food or angstrom calcium supplements (which have an almost 100% absorption rate) - to avoid the possibility of calcification of the heart etc. I picked this book up because it was recently recommended to me to start taking magnesium supplements and I wanted to understand more about why.

So not only do we have to make sure we are taking the right supplements of magnesium, but we need to make sure we take them exactly with Vitamin D and calcium. By adding this mineral to your diet, you are guarding against - and helping to alleviate - such threats as heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, diabetes, depression, arthritis, and asthma. However, the simple fact of the matter, and the main point of this book is that there is an epidemic in our society because of magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is the neglected mineral next to it's cousin, the over-prescribed and over-hyped calcium, yet magnesium has numerous benefits for people with high blood pressure, heart disease, migraines, fibromyalgia and more.

For me the fact that I could actually see a difference in my eyes in particular after starting on Magnesium and secondly, I have only twice had lower back twinges in the last year since taking magnesium made it more noticable that it was magnesium doing that.Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).

Taking the dose up very slowly is always a good idea though especially when you have low blood pressure or a slow heartrate (both seen in M. For more information on all the nutritional players and how to start real healing form serious illness I recommend books by Dr Sherry Rogers, Dr Abram Hoffer and others. Carolyn Dean is the author of several popular medical books, including IBS for Dummies, which will be further discussed on this blog. Because when googling this issue I didn’t find anything except menopause info, and I’m not at that age yet.

In this book, the author presents a summary of what makes magnesium unique and important, its physiological role in humans, (in fact, in all higher animals), and then engages in a thorough overview of the relationship between magnesium and various diseases and health conditions. I, however, will save you some legwork here with a little information that has helped me and will help you whether you have a sensitive digestive system like mine or you just would like to take the maximum absorbable magnesium out on the market because of your symptoms or illness to get better as quickly as possible. The recommended intake changes depending on age, gender and, for women, whether they are pregnant or lactating. Suffice to say that after reading Carolyn Dean's articulate book I'm sufficiently convinced to add 400 mg of Magnesium Citrate to my daily regimen.
