About this deal

It has almost a gourmand oud type of aroma at the start, then dries down and adds a suede leather and cinnamon note to the already divine mix, even though neither of these notes are listed.

The oud also acts strongly here and the other mentioned notes are for support and adding more mystery to the composition. I didn’t because of I didn’t experience any herbal qualities in Sehr, but that one chap at Notable Scents seems to have done so.It is also not a fragrance that I immediately think of as “fruited” or berried as one of its key, main characteristics. I’m actually quite a fan of guaiac wood usually, and AM indeed a fan of “deeply dry, woody smokiness” as you put it, so it is sounding pretty appealing to me. That is one of my favorite places in the world (at least the part I've seen so far) and whoever has been there knows what an assault on the senses it is.

Now the scent I must admit gets a bit too dark and dense for me in the dry down, it's still good though especially the opening which I absolutely love! It’s an oddly overwrought, jangling bouquet of opposites, as if Arabian Oud threw every contradictory thing that it had at the basic, original Kalemat structure.

If you’d like to file an allegation of infringement, you’ll need to follow the process described in our Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy. The notes sounded promising to me, but it seems like, at least for you, it was a case where the whole was less than the sum of its parts, if that makes any sense.

What is the luxury version of this, there must be something that smells like this but 10x more luxurious, and more expensive, and does anybody know if there is something that smells like this with a tiny bit of smokiness, (not tobacco or cigarettes, but like you go out and there is the snell of burnt wood/paper in the atmosphere or a distant BBQ sought of smoke), this one of my favourites. We once discussed the concept of terroir in perfume briefly on Ginza’s blog, and my own take is that there is an element of terroir in where you wear a scent as well as where it was made.

On male skin, the wood and incense notes come forward, on female skin (mine), it’s a fluffy honeyed amber-vanilla with spice. I would recommend it to all those who are in love with the Arabian-style scents like me: spicy and luxurious!I prefer to smell this on a man (or scent my home with it) than to wear it myself, the smell of burning woods is abit much for me, eventhough I find the ambery-vanilla aspect of it absolutely, deliciously gorgeous, I just love sweet ambery scents. Once the real drydown or end-phase begins, Sehr el Kalemat is nothing more than a blurry haze of honeyed sweetness with traces of vaguely fruity, musky, and incense-like elements hovering at the edges. Contrary to common opinion here in the comments, I find this to be very different from the original Kalemat.
