About this deal

I have used a timer for watering pots on a south facing patio which needed 15 mins morning and evening every day. The AC 1 Timer included in the kit, provides extensive control and flexibility to adjust watering duration, frequency and start time. I use a Y splitter on my tap with the timer on one side so I can use the other if I want to use a hosepipe.

Turn the knob counterclockwise to adjust the duration of a single operation per day or select a program for all watering frequencies. The unit's pre-programmed memory remembers your selection and opens the internal valve to allow water out of your garden tap. After 2 minutes of automatic irrigation, constant dripping of water continues in 3 pots, but not in all of them. If the valve opens and closes when the batteries are inserted for the first time, but does not work when the dial is set to ON or OFF, this may indicate poor battery performance. Water butt compatibility means this AC Plus water timer is fully compatible to be used with water butts.Rotate the dial to the new program and avoid turning it to AUTO START unless a new start time is desired.

The control unit is operated by a simple set of dials and buttons, allowing users to customize watering schedules according to their specific requirements. JennyJ - I could go for a cheaper one as you suggest but I'm trying to steer away from ones that have a small LCD control panel. Fitted directly into the Grey nut on Hozelock AC plus and AC Pro water timers to reduce the thread size from 1in BSP to the more common 3/4in BSP thread size used on most garden taps. A manual watering function means you don’t need to wait for your chosen program to water your garden. Drip watering facilitates the slow release of water (hose pipe uses 91 litres per 10 minutes) and places water at the root, exactly where it’s needed. The replacement models are attempting to be more sophisticated but do not allow the same flexibility in the watering patterns. The reason for chosing that one is the ability to have multiple watering periods per days right through to potentially one per week, and watering duration from a couple of minutes up.

If the valve works in manual mode but not in automatic irrigation, make sure to correctly set the desired irrigation program.
