Caned by the Headmaster!

When the headmaster arrived to give us our well-deserved punishment, he was surprised - to put it mildly - that his precious canes had gone AWOL and were no longer in the umbrella stand which was their usual abode. He was close enough to me now to be able to rest the length of his cane across the fleshiest part of my buttocks.

I got suspended for telling the head of geography to f off when he tried to send me to the end of the dinner queue for something I didn't do. In times such as these, when discipline in society seems to be eroding, it becomes our duty as educators to maintain the standards upon which our society is built. I used to have a great time in art for example (I'm crap at it though) because the teacher looked like a bearded psychotic John Cleese and he had a habit of chucking stuff at misbehaving kids. There was talk of abolishing approved schools and replacing them with various types of homes and schools under the control of local councils.The master's view of corporal punishment is that, though he disapproves generally, it "does no harm in many cases, particularly in ordinary schools, where the boy is normal and healthy. He'd peer through the glazed classroom door then burst in, drag someone to the front by the ear and cane them. In the end I did neither since my eyes were closed very tight in anticipation of the pain I was to endure. In my primary school, it was a tradition that students would gather for an assembly every Monday and Thursday. If he had a genuine grievance, that would have been the main thing his defence would work on, and as mentioned earlier, they'd have dragged in others subject to such abuse.
