If I had a special tie dyed shirt, I would dilute Fabric medium with warm water, put it in a spray bottle lay the dry shirt flat and spray it,all over. I have one saying 1 part glycerine to 5 parts water and 5 parts paint i think its supposed to be a 2 to 1 ratio how does that work? How much medium to paint really depends on the thickness of the paint and what you are applying it to.

We decided to do both, and added vinegar to the mix hoping it would encourage the colour to ‘fix’ to the fabric. We recently used our DIY fabric paint to make batik art on an old pillowcase using a glue stick to provide the resist. It thins the paint without diluting the colour, and encourages the paint to adhere to the fabric, particularly once it has been heat set.
