The book is set between the POV’s of Ava and Knox, so we get a pretty rounded viewpoint of her having been gone, and what it was like with her gone and then coming back. Fast forward ten months later, Ava was back at Camden prep for her senior year, determined to finish the school year strong and hopeful get into a prestigious university.

However, she is determined to make somethign of herself and provide for her brother who has special needs resulting from Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Their little interactions, the honesty with which they eventually relate to each other, it really pulls you into the story. this is pretty minor but i just really didn't like the separation and the rushed ending of when they reunited almost 2 freaking years later. It still holds every single letter you ever wrote me, plus a few I wrote you but was never brave enough to send. She had been abandoned by her mother when she was 12 and her father was out of the picture even before she was born.Though I do wish we had been able to maintain our friendship, I believe that if we are meant to cross paths again, nothing can stop it. I did skip the spoiler-y part but even the non-spoiler part has me curious enough to want to check this one out soon! These two had been through some serious crap and it made them seem so much more mature than other high schoolish books. I wasn’t sure if Knox was the one who wrote it in the beginning, or if it was the rapist, maybe Dane, or even Chance (her ex). Undoubtedly one of the best books of 2020 that I have read so far and one of the very best I have read like ever, I feel at a loss of words to describe my feelings about this epic love story.
