About this deal

We are adding more images every day to this site and creating more pages with exciting new models every week! It was my job to provide the shot of the clock against a black background, just in case they could not cut to the real thing at midnight. History: Big Ben is the colloquial name of the bell of the Palace of Westminster in London, also known as the Great Bell of Westminster, the largest bell in the tower and part of the Great Clock of Westminster. The clock tower is at the north-eastern end of the building, the home of the Houses of Parliament, and contains the famous striking clock and bell. In those days when OBs and lines could be problematic, the Beeb had made a highly detailed model of Big Ben’s clock face, about three feet tall.

During one stint as a cameraman in Pres A, I was the lone cameraman on duty to cover the unexpected on a New Years Eve. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The model of Big Ben walked down the road from TC to the Broadcast Centre when ‘Pres’ was expelled from the Corporation and sat proudly on display in the Red Bee boardroom alongside the remaining examples of mechanical models of the BBC 1 globe and a BBC 2 symbol.

However, both were built as 12 x 9 electro-mechanical masterpieces by Murray Andrews to fit into ‘Noddy’. It became fully operational on September 7th, 1859 and is today one of the most prominent symbols of London standing at 316 feet high.

Built in 1859, it is located on the River Thames in London and is known as the world-famous Gothic building. As the fulfilment of these items are handled by the supplier, please understand that this is beyond our control. Big Ben is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London though today the name also refers to the clock and the clock tower. So I spent the boring hours up to midnight lining up a shot with two cameras and a split screen to provide a more realistic, off centre shot. Standing tall at 22cm made out of extremely heavy die cast metal in a rustic finish, this Big Ben model will most definitely compliment your home and room decor. Follow the excellent instructions to place the 220 pieces into the design and then add in the lighting circuit to bring it to life.

Sometimes you may be asked to solve the CAPTCHA if you are using advanced terms that robots are known to use, or sending requests very quickly. This intricate model is made from laser cut pieces that just lot together with no glue or cutting out required. However it was an extremely realistic model, no one would have noticed if it had been used, so I wonder if it ever was, and what happened to it.
