About this deal

Julia and Axel are the team that have created picture book favourites such as The Gruffalo, Stick Man, Zog and Highway Rat – all of which have been made into animated films premiering on BBC1 Christmas Day. Finally take your parcel to your local Post Office for posting and ask for a proof of posting receipt. Your child will giggle their way through this comic tale of three very bad, silly, and completely hopeless storybook characters who dare each other to steal a hanky-chief from a young girl walking through their woods. I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic!

Yesterday a parent came over to tell me how impressed she was by the book fair and that you did a fabulous job of selling the books to the children first. When reading it to my son, it was hard to make it interesting and it did not captivate him in the way her books usually do. After all, the witch longs to make magic, while the ghost plans to haunt her and the troll has plans for ‘ his big bulgy belly‘!

One of my television songs, A SQUASH AND A SQUEEZE, was made into a book in 1993, with illustrations by the wonderful Axel Scheffler. That's why we've added a new "Diverse Representations" section to our reviews that will be rolling out on an ongoing basis. With stunning illustrations from Axel Axel Scheffler and intricate details on every page, this is sure to be another treat for little readers to enjoy. Parents need to know that The Baddies, by Julia Donaldson, is a funny, lighthearted story of a compassionate girl staying true to herself, told with complex rhymes and expressive, colorful illustrations. With Donaldson’s heartwarming, inspirational messages about being brave and standing up to bullies, a wise and enchanting story in a rhyme perfectly created for reading aloud, and Scheffler’s stunning and richly detailed illustrations providing lots to spot on every page, this is a creative partnership made in children’s reading heaven!

With Julia Donaldson’s (author of The Gruffalo) trademark quirky humour and rhyming text and Axel Scheffler’s detailed illustrations, there are lots of fun things to spot as you read and reread the text. Born in London in 1948, she grew up with her younger sister Mary who she loved to create imaginary characters with. A mouse, overhearing the debate, gives the monsters a specific challenge to determine which of them is actually the worst of them all. I was intrigued to see that the Ghost was very much drawn in the style of Jacob Marley from Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol'.
