One thing I would always recommend around any fuel burning appliances is a carbon monoxide alarm just to be on the safe side.

I chose the 2KW heater because I would rather have one that could go very low and use the least diesel rather than work most efficiently in the winter. Here is a diesel heater sound comparison between a Chinese Eberspacher/Planar copy at minimum power, a Planar diesel heater running at medium power and a new Eberspacher D2 running at minimum power. Diesel heaters are hugely popular with DIY pvc and I've seen several YT videos of motorhomers converting to diesel simply due to cost of log https://www. The advantages are that no heat is lost in ducting and that the holes to the exterior of the van are only the smaller ones for the exhaust and air inlet for the burner itself. I fitted a Lithium battery just to power the diesel heater (for now) as the caravan battery and charger crapped it's pants and didn't like running the diesel heater.

Besides, the fuel pump's injection frequency and intake air amount are accurately controlled by ECU to extend the service life. So what you will find when looking for a 2KW heater is that there are a lot of heaters advertised as 2KW but as you probe a little bit deeper you will find that they are actually 2KW-5KW. If you want to fit your diesel heater outside your van then you can purchase the external fitting kit here. This means the physical size of the heater is the same size as a 5KW heater with 75mm ducting so is not great for anybody wanting to fit in under a van in the factory position on T5/T6 transporters or anybody that is tight on space. This gives a really neat positioning with ducting normally going back into the living area behind the seat. You need the 15A fuse for the first few seconds as the motor and glow pin kick in together, I have seen 18A very briefly. I was looking at a 5kw but actually our heater is only 2kw as it is and more often than not is only on 1kw.
