On second use, knowing what to do, the thing went up in 15 minutes (aside from the accursed porch pole) but I still felt that it should just feel easier. I was used to the setup which is exactly the same as the Phoxx 1, so it was a clear choice without offending the wallet. It also withstood a lot of wind, although I did feel a slight lifting of the front, other tents suffered my more than the Jackal. The tent seems like a dream come true in terms of facts, not only is it large enough for two people, but with a hydrostatic head of 5000mm, it should be able to withstand a lot of rain.

I won’t be using this tent in the winter as the vents would let in too much cold air, but for summer use, the vents adequately remove moisture and heat from the tent. We all know how wonderful winter camping can be, but I can confidently state that I wouldn’t want to spend fourteen hours in a small one man tent. I’d been using the OEX Phoxx 1 for a couple of years and was very pleased with the stability in high winds and driving rain on my wild camps. Space and comfort: I’m 6ft 2, and even though the tent has a low profile, I found it fairly wide – certainly enough to accommodate one person and possessions or two people with bags left outside the tent. It's the only way to experience the joy of waking up to the sun beaming on your own personal shelter, whether high in the mountains or at your favourite campsite.

There is only enough room to sleep inside though and thus it wasn’t a comfortable place to spend considerable time sheltering from the winged bugs of doom. I have found that the tent is also tall enough to sit up in with a slight stoop, however this experience will vary depending on your size.
