About this deal

My husband is not a vegetarian by any stretch so I knew some of the main dishes wouldn't be for him. With I Can Cook Vegan, Isa offers doable recipes designed to help inspire people to kick their meat habits, improve digestion, and become all-around better citizens of the world. From Isa Chandra Moskowitz—the bestselling author of Veganomicon—comes a book dedicated to her true love: the home cook.

My struggle is having a mix of meat-eaters, vegans and vegetarians in the family and the non-vegans have always shuddered when I’m cooking vegan. Over the years I’ve bought all the others and I Can Cook Vegan arrived on my door the day of release. I understand some people don’t like the colored ink used for the recipes — but I love how clearly each section is separated by these color changes. If you are making a stew with beans, lentils, and pasta that's just way too many carbs for one meal. The ingredient list font is far too small and for some reason is printed in light lentil green making it somewhat difficult to read. The queen of vegan home cooking offers recipes designed to help inspire people to kick their meat habits, improve digestion, and become all-round better citizens of the world. Yes, there are a few repeats and overlapping recipes concepts with her other cookbooks but it's not something that bothered me considering all of the other delicious items that were "new" to me. Overall this book has brought me joy and made meal planning for the weeks easier as I pick new recipes to try. For a dinner party tonight I decided to try the two cupcake recipes - Strawberry Lemonade and Chocolate with Peanut Butter Frosting.

Anything You Can Cook, I Can Cook Vegan is a guide to truly creative plant-based cooking with zero sacrifices. I initially resisted picking it up because it's targeted at people who are learning to cook vegan food and I've been doing so for decades. The book offers an introduction for vegan novices like me who don’t know the first thing about making the substitutions to cook vegan. One thing I would have liked to have seen in the book are recommendations for mains to go with sides or salads and sides to go with mains. With I Can Cook Vegan , Moskowitz offers doable recipes designed to help inspire people to kick their meat habits, improve digestion, and become all-around better citizens of the world.

Vegan recipes are certainly interesting to me so I will certainly explore many of the recipes in this book. I picked this book up because I'm trying to eat more vegetables and I was looking for new recipes without animal protein. Thank you, Becky, for this wonderful gift for Christmas 2019- I am grateful that you see in me a future and better chef within the plant-based lifestyle. But lots of vegan recipes tend to be Asian or Italian based, and while I love that stuff, I kinda just want FOOD. It’s American cooking at its worst (and please don’t get me wrong I’ve lived in New York and eaten at some brilliant places). When I can eat food again, real food—not saltines and applesauce—I want to try out 75% of these recipes. This is a very versatile cookbook and I highly recommend it to anyone learning to cook or interested in some vegan dishes. Not looking to become vegan myself, but I love reading through vegan recipes and cookbooks for new ideas on how to eat the veggies I've come to love but sometimes get bored with.
