Now, after a fairly long wait, here it is - the "Alpha" release - on CD and Vinyl (I opted for the CD - but the cover art is so striking I may well pick up the LP too! Everything from the sleeve and to the disc came in perfect condition given that the sleeve is quite thin. Fans and critics were universally enamored with his beatless, nuanced electronic pieces upon release. Im not going to say anything about the Game or the Characters, because its just good music, regardless of the fact that both are good. Besides this being one of the best ambient and video game OSTs ever made, the package arrived in perfect condition so if your reading this don't worry about damaged package or any other problems! The cover art features a high quality 8-bit style grassy block with dirt covering the bottom half of the block. No particular discrepancies on A1/B1 as people have noted but A2 does see a small bit of (inconsequential) crackle. As any cursory listen of the touching sounds will reveal, this isn't a record meant solely for lifelong gamers and MineCon diehards; anyone in love with ambient, neo-classical, or minimal music needs to hear Volume Alpha. I think it would be really cool as especially for volume beta, I would argue some of the actual best tracks are not present in the LP form. Using C418 as his moniker, Rosenfeld crafted the sweeping soundtrack and vibrant sound design which helped breathe life into Minecraft's voxel-based universe.Minecraft Volume Beta, a 140-minute collection of beguiling dreamscapes, now gets a release on CD and vinyl via Ghostly International.
