The hunt for the Bismarck is one of the most famous and well-known epics in naval combat history, and Tamiya now brings you this legendary battleship as an exquisite 1/350 scale assembly kit display model. The PBY Catalina is perhaps most associated with patrol and rescue missions in the South Pacific during WWII, but it was used in Europe and credited with finding the Bismarck. The ship commenced in 1936, in service in August 1940, full-load displacement of 50,000 tons, the largest battleship in the world at that time. This ginormous battleship was heavily-armoured, and had a multitude of weaponry and defence mechanisms on board. It is named after Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, and was laid down in Hamburg in July 1936, before being launched in early 1939. Only a few decals are included in this kit, and those are for the Arado plane and the underwater sound location system.
