About this deal

You want to go with something that’s more hard-core, a two-stage water filtering system like a LifeStraw. From now on, every time I head somewhere busy in the hills I'll be likely to pack the BeFree in preference to any heavier, more faffy filter. The lightweight and compact Katadyn BeFree water bottle and filter gives you the freedom to drink anytime, anywhere. But there’s always that off chance that you could get something from that water, I think this is an awesome choice. We started with the inner loop and the track down into a Glen Derry was a little rough for a fully laden gravel bike, especially if you fancied actually riding the thing 😂.

Overall, this is one of our favorite on-to-go systems because of how naturally water flows through the body of the filter to your mouth. Anyway, I will spare you an explanation on each except for the last photo of my son riding his wee bike. The great news is that the mouth of the flask is compatible with the Katadyn BeFree filter, so you can simply screw that in to use this slightly larger one litre capacity bottle for water filtration. tartangravel here -sat at home overdosing on coffee and looking back at my favourite moments from this year.First impressions are that it's been agonised over in designing it as it feels incredibly comfortable and the geo spot on. Katadyn has been developing water filters, chlorine and silver-based sterilizing agents, and mobile desalinators for the trekking and marine markets for over 80 years now. I can’t understand how it hasn’t already driven all other lightweight water filters out of business.

It keeps you from getting what I consider to be the thing that seems to be most common in our community: giardia. I carry this 600-milliliter soft flask as a part of it, because I can fill up more of my other bottles that I generally carry, two soft flasks in a running vest. Just like everything, it has a place and a time, and the majority of the adventures that I’m going on, where I know the water that I’m going to pass by is, for the most part, going to be okay, I take this and give myself that extra protection. Given the calmed large number of sales, I think if it didn't work we would have heard about it by now. It can literally pump out clean water faster than I can drink it (that is, when it’s new – more on that below).

As an extremely packable and lightweight filter, the BeFree is one of our favorite options for activities like trail running or mountain biking, where soft bottles are a huge plus. We personally used the Katadyn BeFree Water Filtration system since the launch of the product and find it a fast and reliable way of filtering water when out for either day hikes or backpacking trips where you cannot carry a safe source of water. While it's not the most durable, it offers a fast flow rate that filters bacteria and protozoa, including Giardia and Cryptosporidium. Be sure to check out our Best Water Filters for Trail Running and Best Water Bottles for Running guides where we named this the best filter for runners. For pure water hauling, the Seeker would be a great choice: it packs down small, has a handy carry handle and is evidently well-made.
