About this deal

In one of nature's greatest spectacles — known as arribadas , the Spanish word for ‘arrival’ — olive ridleys come ashore simultaneously by the thousands to nest. The Dolphin Discovery Centres Adopt a Dolphin Program supports the conservation of dolphins and the broader marine environment. In fact, until 1988 flatbacks were thought to be a subspecies of green turtle rather than a separate species. The female sea turtle breeds with the male in shallow waters and later comes onto the beaches to lay her eggs. Only one in one thousand baby sea turtles survive into adulthood because they are a source of food for other marine animals and birds.

These phenomena occur in just a handful of places worldwide, including Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Mexico, and India. These unique turtles have the largest eggs and hatchlings relative to their adult body size of all sea turtles, and they have a unique physiology that allows them to stay active underwater for longer periods than most other species. The FLA Lending Code can be found here or alternatively you can contact us directly and we can provide you with a copy of the Lending Code. Your adoption will assist People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES), a registered animal conservation charity. Pre-booking your entry into all attractions is essential as same-day entry is subject to availability.Do you know that you have little bones that run down from the back of your neck, and then rib bones that protect your heart and lungs? When you choose a symbolic animal adoption, you generously support WWF’s global conservation efforts. The Sea Turtle Conservancy® logo and logo turtle are registered trademarks of the Sea Turtle Conservancy. A large number of the turtles we receive have been entangled in ghost fishing nets, and have serious injuries to their flippers or carapace (shell). Once these nests have been excavated, the hatchlings are released into the sea, from the quieter, safer beaches, under the cover of darkness with just the moon to light their way.

After successfully surviving for over a hundred million years, endangered sea turtles are now under threat of extinction because of human impact on their environment. Your personal details will only be used to provide you with the goods or services you've requested or information you'd reasonably expect or have agreed to.To reach adulthood, they must survive against all odds as it is estimated that approximately 1 in 1,000 sea turtle hatchlings make it to adulthood. Choose which turtle you would like to adopt below and send us your details by filling out our adoption form below. And, despite the turtles being an endangered species, people still kill the them for their eggs, meat, skin and shells.
