About this deal

When respective heirs Julie Pine and Rick Spruce unwittingly fall head over heels for each other during the holiday season, they must keep their growing romance a secret or they'll risk a Christmas blow-up that could destroy their relationship, their businesses, and any hope at bringing the feud to an end once and for all. There wasn't enough emotion when showing how the wife and mother's passing had really affected her family, especially her husband - this would have added to the climax. In case we are under any doubt that we are in Romeo and Juliet territory, Bear laments that Rick and Julie’s relationship is doomed to failure: “Ever heard of the Hatfields and the McCoys, Romeo and Juliet?

Both fill in the backstory like an in-film prologue: “Stay away from the Pines” Holly warns Rick, “our families have despised each other as long as I can remember… it’s personal”. The ending is actually done in quite a classy and not really cheesy way (Hey, it's a Christmas film there has got to be some cheese Lol) It's a really good funny and lovely film that gives you the feelgood factor also and puts a smile on your face. However, as our viewing habits change, and we demand the content we want streamed 24/7 the made-for-TV Christmas Movie is evolving. The soldier says he’s looking forward to seeing the woman he’s going to marry, who he’s been estranged from for so long, and Rick says the situation is exactly the same as being apart from Julie for all of thirty minutes. But the audacity of a cookies- and-cocoa Christmasification of Romeo and Juliet make this film essential festive viewing for any Bardophile.

Meanwhile, coming from Texas, where he had been a successful used-car salesman, Rick Spruce, accepts the invitation of his uncle, unmarried and childless Dave Spruce, to help his uncle at this busy season. A Star-Crossed Christmas becomes the comedy Romeo and Juliet was destined to be before Mercutio dies. Also, other Wikipedia articles note that "pines" and "spruces" all belong to the botanical family Pinaceae, while the pines, as such, belong to the genera Pinus. Rick, who Respects the Troops, offers the tree free of charge and thanks the Troops for their service. Meanwhile, one of the big burly Pine workers, nicknamed "Bear", and one of the cute Spruce workers, Holly, have been secretly dating, despite knowing that their mutually antagonistic bosses would fire them on the spot if their relationship was revealed.

It was filmed under the title A Star-Crossed Christmas, which is also the title it was released as in the United Kingdom. While the Romeo and Juliet story is not new and has been done many times, it is a slightly different approach to a Christmas story. But only the two grumpy old men know what the feud was about, and each of them angrily refuses to discuss it.

I know that this is primarily a love story but it would have been so much better to have a stronger resolve and make it a two-story film.

Very little if anything is done awfully, but at the same time 'The Spruces and the Pines' isn't exactly distinguished. John Stimpson, 2017) — also known by the less Bardtastic title The Spruces and the Pines — is a classic made-for-TV Christmas Movie.

A Romeo and Juliet romance takes place among two commercially competing, and emotionally feuding New England Christmas Tree farming families. The conflict could have done with more tension and the too tidy and over too soon resolution falls flat on delivering on the emotional impact, which isn't really there. Sadly because of the short-termism of the whole affair, there aren’t any weirdly apt-to-solve-everything letters which fix the rift.Julie prepares the drink, putting a small sprig of pine needles in each mug, and pouring in about two inches of boiling water. However, this is a made-for-TV Christmas Movie and while an emotional back story is obligatory, the actual act of death must be confined to the (unseen) summer months.
