That said, this issue has solidified the thought in my mind, that this is a book best ingested as a whole. This vol takes readers on a journey filled with mystery and tension, yet struggles to maintain a consistently engaging pace. And that’s in big part due to the magnificent artist of this series, Andre Lima Araujo, whose art is absolutely beautiful. Additionally, the visuals are a treat adding to the tone and vibe of the pressures of trying to do the right thing in a world where many people just turn away. While the abrupt ending leaves readers craving more, it leaves a sense of incompleteness due to the scant storytelling that preceded it.

Chris O’Halloran’s subtle but appealing colours also add a lot to the stunning visuals - this is one of the best-looking comics I’ve seen in a while.The art is the real star here but it’s also a solid action thriller that’ll entertain most fans of that genre - a decent start to a compelling new title. It reminded me of the first titles from Image Comics I was interested in, with an underlying mystery plot told in a bold and innovative way.

No spoilers here, if you like a simple tale of revenge, with some thriller-y elements, this is for you. Me and Rick spoke since the beginning about doing a Deluxe edition in the end where we’d present this story in the best possible package. It can be read in one sitting, which I’m sure makes some people feeblike they maybe haven’t received their money’s worth, but I think that kind of thinking is a little misguided. Where Remender’s script lacks words, André Lima Araújo’s illustrations more than make up for it in astronomical proportions. It’s engaging stuff, well plotted with only a small amount of dialogue so the detailed and clear illustrations tell a lot of the story.Make sure you enjoy the weekend (the first one in a while that I won’t be working) with your family, because when all is said and done, that’s what matters the most. I can’t whole heartedly give this a “Highly Recommended” rating as I do think the slow pace will put many off, equally I think this book is better than a “Give it a Chance” rating and will appeal to a decent majority of comic book audiences. Its best-known series include Spawn, Monstress, Paper Girls, Saga, Invincible, Chew, and The Walking Dead.
