About this deal

Compared to a turbocharger, timing chain, jet engine or other powered machinery, bicycle parts move at a snail’s pace” Silca Synergetic is the brand's top wet lubricant and was initially designed for F1 applications. If you want the familiarity of a wet drip lubricant to apply to your drivetrain then give Syngergetic a look. DRY: Best for dry conditions, often thinner when applied, stays a bit cleaner, and is less likely to leave grease marks everywhere.

The more common oil-based lubricants are classic because they’re easy, and in most cases, they keep a chain running quiet and smooth. But unless you’re regularly cleaning and degreasing your chain, oil lubricants are dirt magnets, attracting dust and grit as you pedal.Because it cleans your chain, you can skip the degreasing process before application, but you will want to wipe down your chain for the first few rides after using it. The lube lasts up to 400 miles, so you won’t have to repeat the process often, but you may need to use more product than normal to achieve best results. Read our full review of the Wolf Tooth WT-1 Synthetic Chain Lube here. Then came the revelation. I was adding quantities that you would consider ‘generous’ when using an oil based lube. You have to go all Henry Cooper with it….”splash it on all over” sort of thing. Don’t forget, 60% is water and the water is just the transport device. And don’t forget, the first application needs two helpings, and they need to dry between applications. We manufacture chain lubricants, tire sealant, skin protection balm, bike cleaner and other products. yeah, really good stuff. One proviso - don't leave it in the shed when it's -6° because it's water-based and it freezes

I’ll be brutally honest here. At first, Squirt really didn’t cut the mustard. On the road, I got that ‘dry chain feeling’ about 60 miles in. On an MTB it only proved effective for 30 odd miles and on a gravel bike it was sort of mid way between the two. Longevity was largely determined by riding conditions. Suffice to say, it was less time than I was entirely comfortable with.If you’re really time-crunched, the Finish Line Speed Bicycle Chain Degreaser works so well it’s scary. It literally blasts grease and dirt off your chain, leaving nothing but bare metal. The downsides are it’s not biodegradable (but is at least ozone-friendly), and that all that grease and grime ends up getting blasted onto whatever’s behind the chain…which can be your bike, garage floor, etc…make sure it doesn’t spray onto your disc brakes! It's much easier than oil-based chain lubricants - there's no longer and need to use a degreaser after each ride and re-apply wax! Does Squirt Wax work in the winter?

The downside to wax lubes is they take a bit more initial work to apply and maintain. Before the initial application, you’ll need to make sure any factory grease or old lube has been removed and get the chain as clean as possible. The process also takes longer, it's advisable to apply these lubricants the night before a ride ideally. Should I use wet or dry lube? Bikerumor editors love Muc Off’s C3 Ceramic Dry Chain Lube for general purpose riding. It’s optimized for dusty, dry conditions, which means it’s perfect for normal road, gravel, and mountain bike conditions. The biodegradable petroleum-free formula uses nano-particles of ceramic and synthetic polymers to lightly coat your chain. Expect smooth and quiet riding for long distances. Anyway, I’m feeling healthy for the first time in ages so I’m looking forward to lighter evenings and cold sunny morning rides. 👍🏻 Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed I’ve been using Squirt since last autumn and to be honest it’s brilliant, lasted as long as I did at WEMBO at Fort William in October and that was anything but dry, got a ridiculous work out at HtN VI the other week an the shifting was still bang on.In reality, the very best chain lubes might reduce chain friction by maaaaaybe 1-2% more than the other really good ones we recommend here. But keep in mind, those other really good chain lubes are already reducing a lot of chain friction. So, 1-2% better than something that’s already really good is truly a marginal gain. The new @fairlightcycles Holt XC frame has arrived. To say I've been excited for it's arrival would be putting it mildly. If you do want to up your game and try to use the best possible product to increase efficiency and lengthen drivetrain life, then start with cleaning. You will need to start with a properly cleaned chain. Investigate what degreasing products you want to use to get your chain sparkling, and head to Zero Friction Cycling which has more information than we could possibly include here on the subject and this will enable you to find the best lubricant for your riding and budget.
