About this deal

That said: "It is so bright that if you play music in the dark, you may have to wear sunglasses!" is my new favorite line in a review. Ideally, bookshelf speakers are an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy powerful sound without sacrificing floor space. Sony SSCS5 and Klipsch R-41M are some of the most affordable bookshelf speakers in the market. The speakers generally designed to accommodate both professional and home entertainment needs without breaking the bank.

The Sony SSCS5 Bookshelf Speakers are an excellent option for those looking for an affordable and well-rounded audio solution. They’re ideal whether you’re a casual listener or those just starting to build your home audio setup. The super-tweeter driver measures 0.75 inches while the main tweeter measures 0.98 inches. The speakers also include a 5.12-inch woofer with a mica-reinforced cellular (MRC) diaphragm. Instead of using a standard paper cone that may deteriorate over time, the SS-CS5 woofers use MRC fiber to maintain their shape. Yet again, the measurements does not look that bad considering what this speaker is. So I get mixed feelings about it. The speakers also have a fairly solid construction in terms of durability and stability. The wooden cabinets help reduce unwanted vibrations, allowing for clear and distortion-free audio output. Features and specifications

Measurements that you are about to see were performed using the Klippel Near-field Scanner (NFS). This is a robotic measurement system that analyzes the speaker all around and is able (using advanced mathematics and dual scan) to subtract room reflections (so where I measure it doesn't matter). It also measures the speaker at close distance ("near-field") which sharply reduces the impact of room noise. Both of these factors enable testing in ordinary rooms yet results that can be more accurate than an anechoic chamber. In a nutshell, the measurements show the actual sound coming out of the speaker independent of the room. Furthermore, you won’t find any magnets here. But the overall look of these speakers is nice and they do have an expensive look to them at first glance. The Sony SSCS5 bookshelf speaker also has a grille that comes with it. The grille is detachable and you can decide when to put it on the speaker or take it off of it. This grille looks very well on the speaker’s cabinet. Furthermore, it can also make the projected sound more discrete so that you can enjoy and relax with some music. Features

There is also directivity error around 3 kHz so I imagine that is one of the crossover points (can't find the spec). Additionally, the strong cabinet design of these speakers ensures resonant acoustics. There is no unwanted vibration and the overall looks blend with most modern interiors as well. I can't help feeling that if they'd taken the cost of that utterly redundant super-tweeter and invested it in one or two extra crossover components, this could have been an incredible value-for-money speaker. After going through the analysis, we would say Sony SSCS5 should be preferred over Polk T15 because of its better sound quality. It can handle low to midrange sounds very well and bass handling is far better than Polk T15. Aside from that, putting large floor-standing speakers in a tiny area means you won’t be able to fit anything else in. Your difficulty can be solved by purchasing the Sony SSCS5 bookshelf speakers according to this Sony SSCS5 review. The speakers are relatively compact, measuring 7.125 x 13.25 x 8.75 inches in size. Because of the three-way design, they are narrow and slim but a touch tall. The SS-CS5 may take up a bit more vertical space than a two-way speaker. It is, however, still rather small. Just like the Sony speakers, these Polk bookshelf speakers also come with a similar control. There are not many controls present on these speakers. You will only see an input to connect these speakers with any of your devices like TV, home theatre, or PC. Being lightweight, you can mount them on your wall easily. Another exceptional and affordable bookshelf speaker, the Elac B5.2 is perhaps the only speaker I’d consider superior to the SS-CS5 within this price range. This speaker offers a neutral, extremely-detailed soundscape, defined by accuracy across the spectrum.

Hard to fault such a small and cheap speaker but still, expect a lot of distortion across the board especially if you turn it up.

To this point my listening standard(s) had always been set by pairs of "vintage" Altec Lansing Model 5's and Model 7's, but, as Dylan put it, "things have changed". The accuracy and definition of these CS5's for both jazz and classical listening is simply astounding from an enclosure only a third the size of the older speakers. Technology has its virtues.
