About this deal

We are really excited to launch these excellent quality swags into the UK. They were demonstrated at the Indoor 4×4 Expo, held in February, where we received lots of interest. The great thing about modern swag and small tent designs is that there’s a model from either that will cover your practical requirements and comfort demands.

Swags are designed for one or two people so I’ll only compare swags with one-person tents and two-person tents. This way we’re comparing apples with apples. Cost Canvas Swags are still heavily used by overlanders. Our modern canvas camping tent is designed for robustness and is marketed towards those travelling by vehicle as they are heavy weight and bulky but durable. They are produced using high quality materials and useful features that will suit your budget and requirements. Perfect for those who like a no-fuss setup. Their easy set-up is a key feature, yet they can be a little bulky and heavy. There are two basic swag designs, traditional, and dome which include the new poleless (no tent poles) air swag ideal for swift set-ups. Modern traditional swags offer double or single options and can be lightweight or heavy-duty, often made from strong ripstop canvas. If you want to be off the wet ground with better protection from wildlife, a stretcher tent or rooftop tent is ideal. But at night, it was perfect for staying warm. And when it wasn’t sweltering, the foam mattress was plenty comfortable. It’s not as cushy as a big air mattress, but it’s a great and comfortable addition to a simple bivvy shelter. How To Set Up: Swag TentMade of heavy-duty waterproof canvas, the Swag provides an all-in-one sleeper that’s about as easy to set up as it is to pronounce. Unroll the conical tent with footprint and mattress included, insert three half-circle poles and two stakes, and presto! You’re ready for bed. This process causes the canvas to contract and expand multiple times, subsequently the canvas would have ‘closed up’ any holes caused by the stitching process resulting in the product being more water resistant. For the uninitiated, a camping swag is the easiest and most convenient way to get out and about on an adventure. An iconically Australian invention, the swag tent is a traditional canvas bed roll that houses a thin mattress. In general terms, the swag tent is a more advanced sleeping bag that offers protection from the elements. Looking much like a one-person tent, the long, thin apparatus zips all the way up, covering your entire body including your head. Waterproof, warm and bug-resistant, the humble swag tent is a true camping innovation. At the lower price points, there’s greater variation in key comfort features of swags and tents. I’ve found that dome swags have better comfort inclusions at lower to mid-price points.

The new styles offer an alternative for people seeking the simplicity of camping in a swag but with more than just a few flaps of canvas to protect them from the night air. Many swags now come with even more poles than your average hiking tent whilst others just boast a single awning pole to keep the canvas off your face. The most popular design, however, is the tunnel or hoop style swag, consisting of two or three flexible poles. They also offer multiple entry points with door covers that double as awnings, as well as mesh panels for ventilation. The biggest benefits of a swag tent involve convenience and ease. Because you can essentially drop shop and set-up anywhere, a swag tent can be the best way to experience the outdoors. By fully immersing yourself in the landscape, you can score an unparalleled first-hand view of your chosen camping region. What to Consider When Buying a Swag Tent were the next evolution in swag design introduced by Darche over twentyyears ago. These swags come in a variety of designs - originally starting with a single dome tent style fibreglass or steel pole bent over the head area of the swag to keep the weight of the canvas off the occupant and give them breathing room when raining. These progressed to include a foot pole so that no canvas is resting on the occupant. Insect-proof mesh was added so that the swag could be left open on warm nights allowing for ventilation whilst keeping those pesky biting insects off! Some of the variations now include a third centre pole, multiple head-poles, ridge poles and PVC floors. A nice feature on some of these swags is a handy boot mat to stand on whilst you take your boots off so that you don't drag dirt into your nice clean swag! Swags with ridge poles are great for when you set up your swag on ground that you can't put pegs into as they are free standing. Air swags Some camping swags may look great but fail to get the job done. Pay close attention to the design of your swag tent, most specifically around the drainage and ventilation. Like any good tent, your swag should be designed so that water is directed down and away from any openings. Take a look at where the body of the swag tent meets the floor, as this is often a problem area for water leakage. Maintenance

The Swag is really burly. The 12-oz. waterproof canvas shell is similar to material used in wall tents, and should take several years of abuse and foul weather without a compromise. Canvas swags are a relatively newconceptto the UK and, hopefully, this guide will give you more of an idea of what you can expect from this famous well proven icon of the great outdoors. I like the quality of the materials. Looking Forward to testing this out this summer and fall. Great kit! To find out which best camping tent is right for you, we’ve put together some important factors to consider:

A traditional swag is a compact, sleep-anywhere portable canvas shelter that looks a little like a sleeping bag. They have an integral mattress, can be waterproof, and simply roll out on the ground for sleeping.

For those who are uncomfortable on the ground, stretcher swags/tents and rooftop tents are ideal. Why Use A Swag Vs A Tent and Vice Versa? While 2 man tents are designed to fit up to 2 people, they can get rather snug, especially when adding all your camping gear and luggage. These sized tents are better suited for solo campers to give you the comfort and space you need. If you are planning a camping trip with a friend or partner, consider investing in a 3 person tent to ensure you have enough space. The Swag has a large openings on both sides of the tent, with outer door and inner mesh anti-bug lining, allowing for plenty of room to get in and out without struggling through a small doorway. There are large storm flaps and vents located at the top and bottom, giving protection and ventilation whatever the weather. If you have neither tent nor swag, and you’re going on a one-off camping trip, or odd hiking trip, tents are far cheaper than than quality swags and common dome swags

If maintained properly, a quality swag tent will give you years of reliable use. So choosing one is an important decision to make.
