It’s also to turn our life’s HQ–our home–into a launching pad for a more fulfilling and productive life in the world. The professional decluttering and design team Cary and Kyle of New Minimalism will guide you through the process of decluttering your home and emotional attachment to your belongings, resulting in a beautifully designed living space that is both tidy and inviting. The Year of Less is a deeply personal account of Cait Flanders’ life and struggles to escape the cycle of consumerism. The term ‘Minimalism’ comes from this text in 1964 by the British art theorist David Wilhelm, who was working in New York at that point; he drew a circle around this particular group of artists that included Judd and Robert Morris and Dan Flavin and some others. It’s also worth noting that this book is best suited for a Christian, American audience and probably an affluent family too.So if you embrace the advice, you can completely change your life for the better because less stuff means less stress and more time. Everything in Minimalism is common sense: eat well and lightly, sleep enough, get daily exercise and don’t waste your energy on relationships that don’t serve you. But I do think that in this moment when we’re still confronting what industrialized modernity has done to us, this book has a lot to say.
