About this deal

Gladys Doyle’s relaxing and luxurious ski weekend, courtesy of her employer, takes a tense turn when she is forced to seek shelter with a stranger in a lonely mountain cabin due to a storm. The next day when she wakes up, there's a dead man in the room, the host has disappeared, and Gladys’s fingerprints are all over the murder weapon. Mason as usual has to rise up to the occasion and find out the real story behind this strange situation. This book is a perfect balance of mystery, drama and smart quips.

This was when Alex decided that he was going to start doing things his own way. Little did he realize that his way would take him to Tehran, London, Tel Aviv, and the very brink of Nuclear Armageddon. And possibly beyond. So when Alia Gallin’s murder was reported to Alex Mason, the very last thing that he’d thought of was that this could be a part of the build up to a nuclear war. All he could think of was his rage, finding the murderers and punishing all of them. These two authors have combined to deliver a fast paced action thriller and an immensely enjoyable read with some excellent and plausible characters. Some readers hit the fourth chapter and couldn’t put the book down until the end, and they didn’t see the twist at the end coming. Born in 1889, Earl Stanley Gardner was a trial lawyer who tapped into his legal experience in writing his books. Because legal work was a little tedious, he started writing pulp fiction for magazines, and in 1921he published his first short story. Many of these early works featured characters he created, such as the criminal Lester Leith and the lawyer Ken Corning.

Alex Mason is the top agent at ODIN, under the employment of The Chief, who runs the organization with his iron fist. However when one ODIN 5i agent based at the US Embassy in Manila vanishes and his encrypted laptop vanishes along with him, the entire ODIN structure is put in peril. And then the agents that he was managing begin disappearing one at a time, and things begin looking rather ugly.

The first Perry Mason novel, The Case of the Velvet Claws, was published in 1933. In the first fifteen years of publication, it sold 28 million copies, which was quite a feat for the early 1900s. This book introduces California lawyer Perry Mason who takes on the case of Eva Belter, a woman described as “all velvet and claws.” The case has all the makings of a great crime thriller, complete with a potential affair, attempted robbery, murder, and a forged will. The complicated story showed that Erle Stanley Gardner had what it takes to create riveting thriller novels. It also became a movie in 1936. When Alex gets shipped off to Greenland to find out some answers to each of these questions, what he discovers is something much more harrowing and far reaching than anybody could’ve ever expected. This investigation is going to take him, and Mossad Agent Alia Gallin, from DC on to Nuuk, to the Bahamas and London, and to the very edge of perdition. Writing a good crime thriller novel is not easy. The most well-known crime thriller authors usually use a system to create an engaging plot and tell a mysteriousstory that keeps readers guessing to the very last toy. Unfortunately, fewwriters have achieved this, one of the most famous being Erle Stanley Gardner. Discover the best Erle Stanley Gardner books in our guide and add them to your reading list to enjoy the thrilling storylines and adventures. Authors David Archer and Blake Banner joined forces to write the “Alex Mason” series of thriller novels.

Odin” is the first novel in the “Alex Mason” series and was released in 2021. ODIN is about as secret as a government agency can get. Nobody’s ever even heard of it. Soon Gardner took on a pen name, A. A. Fair, and began publishing novels about a detective firm called Cool and Lam. These works started earning him a reputation, but it wasn’t until he began working on the Perry Mason books that he solidified his place among the best crime thriller authors of all time. Perry Mason became a recurring character in several movies of the 1930s, followed by a radio program. Then, in 1937, Gardner added to his list of works by starting the Doug Selby series, which ended up with nine books. There is non stop action and suspense, it’s a highly enjoyable read. This one has a good story and Alex Mason is a fantastic character and Alia Gallin is a total bad ass, together they make one hell of a pair right from the minute they get together. When Peter Baxter dies, his family discovers he has created a new will that leaves everything to his caretaker, leaving them wondering if the will was valid. The caretaker, facing the outrage of the family, hires Perry Mason. Yet The Case of the Caretaker’s Cat becomes complicated when the caretaker is not entirely truthful with the lawyer. In a tribute piece for The New York Times, Albin Krebs wrote that some critics dismissed his novels as “mere entertainments” or “pap.” However, Gardner was not bothered. “I write to make money, and I write to give the reader sheer fun,” he reasoned. “People derive moral satisfaction from reading a story in which the innocent victim of fate triumphs over evil. They enjoy the stimulation of an exciting detective story.”
