About this deal
Collects the COMPLETE Kickstarter / IndieGoGo edition of the book with 64 pages of story, supplemental art, and the epilogue! I saw very little of this comic mentioned online and that surprised me as from the title and the art I saw I assumed this would be a fun parody/love letter to the patriotic hero archetype with a sprinkling of tokusatsu and magical girl anime to create a funny mash-up of East meets West. Rebranding herself as a bona fide, super-charged henshin heroine, she humbly discovers that sometimes doing what’s right isn’t always what’s fashionable, as she fights the forces of evil as the Patriotic Paladin known as KAMEN AMERICA! Kamen America , Kamen Comet , Kamen Ramen , and Kamen Victory will have to combine their powers in new and creative ways to face a threat more powerful than any they have encountered so far! Things get complicated really quickly when Carly's former agent, Niro Lansky, joins forces the mysterious woman behind the monster attacks: Vermillion Masquerade!
Conflicted with the need to take down her friend-turned-foe, Kamen America is faced with the decisions she'll have to make to stop Vermillion's destructive rampage while salvaging what's left of their relationship! I do like where she tells some corporation to buzz off cause she wants to save people on her own terms. Animesque: While the main comic is not a Japanese Manga, its artstyle invokes Manga and Anime designs as per the page's cover image just as much as it does from western superhero comics. Carly and the Kamen Corps are in an awkward, precarious position as they must face the reality that one of their friends is the villainous Vermillion Masquerade! Pellegrini's wit and sense of humor are on full display and never come off as too on-the-nose or condescending, and Lim's gorgeous artwork and character designs are a joy to take in.
Both fan and official art produced by the comic's Japanese audiences as well as additional promotional media made by Japan therefore looks indistinguishable from how the main comic is drawn. After turning down her future prospects with her media rep, Carly Vanders is working tirelessly to promote her fashion brand and living up to her superheroic persona while suffering a daily barrage of media smear pieces.
All-American Face: Carly started out as an ambitious American girl who loves her country, and her superhero outfit incorporates the American flag. Charlotte “Carly” Vanders was an aspiring fashion designer whose fate was changed the day she was bombarded by cosmic debris! To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.
I'm not big on left politics being poorly added to stories but the opposite side doing the same is not at all what I want. The third volume of the Stars and Strife Saga sees the Kamen Corps taking on an alliance of their greatest foes to date: Lanksy, Kamen U.
Charlotte "Carly" Sasha Vanders was just a girl-next-door with dreams of being a fashionista someday. Eventually, he expanded his portfolio to include an array of diverse freelance projects: comic book covers for IDW, pinups featured in art books by UDON, and even plush toy designs for Squishable. Misha started as an employee of one before she defected and joined the Kamen Corps, and Hare Trigger ran one. Radiation-Induced Superpowers: Carly, Misha, Kimiko, and Vicki Kaminski all develop these as a result of being struck by debris from a space probe that had been contaminated by Venus radiation. When are people going to learn that a good political story comes from the writing and not from how hard you 'own' the other side. The biggest insult is people on youtube and other sites having the gall to say this isn't political. During a USO performance for American troops, she's hit by irradiated space debris and given incredible powers. They both work perfectly in sync to make the reader laugh out loud, tug at the heartstrings, or get them genuinely excited for the next bombastic fight scene! Addiction-Powered: Downplayed, but Kimiko reveals that her water-based powers can work on the water in alcohol too.
As they get closer to figuring out the secret identity of Vermillion Masquerade, the stakes are raised as the danger may be a lot more familiar to the team than they expected! Expy: Carly Vanders is an expy of both DC's Supergirl and Marvel's Captain Marvel, who respectively have the similar names of Kara Danvers and Carol Danvers and are already expies of each other. Timothy Lim (NINJAINK, LLC) is a freelance illustrator whose work includes licensed art for merchandising, comic book covers, and plush toys. Thus, if there's no water around, she can make do in a pinch by drinking alcohol and going from there. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Kamen America's innocent looking blond hair and blue eyes also invoke the Phenotype Stereotype of how Americans are percieved to look like in Japan, enriching the Animesque and Sentai influences the Comic incorporates. Page 6 legit has someone tell our heroine to stick to being a stereotypical housewive and it's treated as a heartwarming moment.
