I was surprised how well the soap holds up in the bag - even though some reviewers on YT mentioned that it doesn't work much better than a regular zip lock bag. Again, the Matador bag performed only slightly better here than the Ziploc, however the soap bar is still soft and squishy and nowhere near dry. Depending on the setup at my destination, I sometimes use the case as a makeshift soap dish on the bathroom counter; if there isn’t sufficient shelf space in the shower, I’ll hang the case around a knob or the shower head and take the product out when I need to use it. If you’re really trying to travel light, you can bring along a smaller soap and the case will pack flat around it, saving space and weight—an option you don’t have with traditional plastic soap cases. Remove as much water and suds as possible from the soap bar before inserting it into the FlatPak case. After 5 days, both soap bars were less wet and squishy than the first non-drying experiment, but neither was dry.

The drying time will be noticeably longer if you immediately put the case inside your dopp kit or luggage where there is no air circulating. Just a quick wipe with a cloth or paper towel will be enough to get rid of the excess water, then you’re good to throw it in the case. But if you're showering the night before or have a bit of time to let your bar of soap dry, then there are alternative solutions that you can get by. Specially good for urban destinations, perfect for digital nomads, and as when properly closed it can be hung on a tree or somewhere in the tent. So now I wondered, if the Matador bag doesn’t dry your soap out that much when it’s sealed inside the soap case.
