About this deal
I love the idea of living in a secluded area near the wilderness, and this book captures that ambiance perfectly.
kaleb was an absolute psycho and he treated tiernan terribly for most of the story and then suddenly spoke to her at the end and it was so stupid, the whole thing was just so stupid with all of the fighting and make-up. Similar to the After series, it was kind of like Credence was a train-wreck I couldn't look away from.To say I’d been dyyying to get my hands on the audiobook and re-read this since January would be an understatement.
While most of the book is seen through Tiernan's POV, we do get chapters from the three guys and I thought it was clever how PD changed those as the story went on. The characters are all so unique and well-developed; each relationship Tiernan cultivates is unique, complex, and affects her in a different way. One of it is in Kaleb’s POV, and I think reading it helps you get to know him more and shows you the side of him the book couldn’t but you’ve always wanted to see. It's also completely different to what I was expecting and my advice would be to go into this blind. It was really easy to empathise with a lot of these characters and their situations were so sad to read about, especially Tiernan's, and some of the things they talked about really gutted me. I'm not gonna lie, it took me several pages to get engaged with the story but it was so worthy to keep going. apparently these threesomes happened for all the characters to heal and connect but it just really bugs me since the H's are extremely possessive but apparently they're down to share their women with their best friends/brother. Their books have been translated into nineteen languages and include The Fall Away Series, The Devil’s Night Series, and the stand-alones, Misconduct, Punk 57, Birthday Girl, Credence, and Tryst Six Venom. it would've made more sense if she actually ended up with the person she spent most of the time with in a romantic way (Jake).
It's taboo af and there's a lot of outrageous stuff that happens that won't sit well with many readers (dub con, bullying, violence, etc. Personally, this book has sold me on Penelope Douglas and I can't wait to read the rest of their backlist. Following the sudden deaths of her parents, seventeen year old Tiernan de Haas is set to live with her father’s stepbrother and only living relative Jake Van der Berg and his two sons, Kaleb and Noah. He doesn't speak because of a 'childhood trauma', he does nothing but rape the heroine until she's convinced she likes it, and finally throws her birth control pills into the bin.he also just wasn’t interesting to read about, and him and tiernan are just so bland together i don’t even want to talk about it it hurts me with the blandness. Because life is not black and white, because bad and good things happen to bad and to good people and it's ok, how you deal and learn is what counts. If you choose to see it only for its wrongness, and if you think it’s garbage and disgusting, that’s on you. All of the men in this book are toxic in their own way, and if you are someone that has a hard time forgiving characters for bad behaviour, this book may really frustrate you. Her romantic development with Jake was so good and filled with tension from the start that it did not make sense AT ALL for her to be with the other two but, ya know, plot and all that.
uncle jake is already thirsting after some teenage 🐱, there is no way he won't at least try to do something. However, if you are at all curious and would like to be pushed out of your comfort zone a little, I highly recommend reading this book. This is only my second book by Penelope Douglas and to be honest, I wasn't sure that she was an author for me because I wasn't a big fan of the first book of hers that I read. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products.
