The issues collected in the first Absolute Edition are so wildly ambitious, outstripping even Frank Miller's work on Daredevil around the same time for envelope-pushing scripting and paneling, that it's wild that the work here surpasses it. It is a little expensive and it has a twin (second volume) but if you ever wished to experience this series for the first time again, now is your chance. I purchased Saga of swamp thing vol 1 but just saw a post about absolute swamp thing vol 1 which is about twice as big. This is just an all round great book, and a big part of the revolutionizing of the graphic novel medium. As one of the medium's most important innovators since the early 1980s, Moore has influenced an entire generation of comics creators, and his work continues to inspire an ever-growing audience.For any other comic, I would'nt approve of the larger than life storyline with heaven and hell, good and evil. And yes, I'm still pissed at DC for not giving us the original colours, although me being pissed at DC is like a bit like asking whether water is still wet. What women have to go through inside of their own homes is also talked about here, one of my favorite chapters. I speculate that it would not have been Alan Moore’s idea to have these characters and cameos in them.
