It would be mainly used for creating finishing timber etc for doing up my house and also tidying up my parents house as well as other projects. Love this thickness planer from the build to the use it is simple to use and a pleasure to use you get great satisfaction putting an old lump of wood through it to receive a new lump the other end. It's specified as a cast iron bed with an alu fence and looking at the pictures the need does look to be cast iron and I'm assuming it's the beds corrugated to make it less work to get flat during manufacturing. It is difficult to properly flatten/straighten a long board when the reference tables are too short. I think it's teething problems of a relatively new growing business as opposed to deliberate misleading.
