About this deal

Massive respect to the late Kevin Laffan, the creator of Emmerdale (Emmerdale Farm as it was then) as without his idea, thousands of people would not have had the work they have had over the decades, and millions of viewers would not have enjoyed what they have during that time.

By the mid- to late-2000s, the last of the Tates (Zoe, daughter Jean and nephew Joseph) had emigrated to New Zealand. The buildings are one of the few original filming locations used for the entire series and have been involved in numerous storylines. In January 2019, ITV3 began airing episodes of Emmerdale from the beginning of the soap's inception. From 1977, the series moved out of the daytime programming slot, with eight out of the fourteen ITV regions choosing to accommodate the programme in the 7:00 pm Tuesday and Thursday slots.

The premise of Emmerdale Farm was similar to the BBC radio soap opera The Archers, focusing on a family, a farm and characters in a nearby village. The brief from the art director was to create an edible miniature set of the drama series including the famous Woolpack pub, the woods and many iconic scenes.Offering some spoilers of what to expect, producer Kate Brooks said: “As part of our big 50th celebrations, the big week will focus on a massive storm which is going to rip through the village and absolutely leave a massive trail of destruction in its wake.
