About this deal

You would want to hang this birdhouse where it was free from overhead obstructions such as wires or tree branches to encourage your birds to return home to their roosts. More examples of detailed plans and designs for dovecotes can be found in our guide available here. Firstly, there are freestanding dovecote birdhouses that come in many different styles and sizes. Though not as large nor as expensive as their historical counterparts, they can be designed to be extremely ornate and serve a decorative as well as utilitarian function.

The edges needed to be ripped at a 60 degree angle on the table saw, and any overhangs planed flush once nailed on. My grand daughter was On The MOON when I told her of Pipers return. Grand daughter has experienced love, loss, heartache. first aid, joy, responsibility, and kinship with yours truly. She has also developed special bonds with some of our doves who prefer her company over mine when she comes into the loft with me.

My grand daughter's hand-raised, orphaned-homer failed to return on a 20 mile toss. It was one of the few times she did not accompany me on a release. She suffered tears and heartache when I told her of the loss. A lead cap was then made to fit over the top wood plug that finished the roof (and which was also threaded to take the finial).it is well-preserved, retaining both its architectural character and the principal elements that illustrate its original use; Once the roof was dry, it cold be dropped onto the roof frame as a "lid" and nailed on. (a very slight error in sizing meant it did not sit completely flush all round. So I ran a small battery hand held circular saw up one hip ridge of the roof. The width of the kerf of the blade
