The Boy In The Dress is a comedic children's book written by David Walliams and illustrated by Quentin Blake. It is the first book by Walliams, a television comedian best known for the cult BBC show Little Britain. It tells the story of a fourteen-year-old boy called John and a twelve-year-old boy called Dennis who is encouraged by a rebellious friend to cross-dress and the reactions of his family, friends and school. [1] [2] It is aimed at readers aged eight to twelve, [3] and has been adapted into a television film and a musical.

Dennis Sims - A 12-year-old boy who lives with his single father following the death of his mother, and his older brother John. Dennis' best friend is named Darvesh. He first became widely known for Little Britain, which began on BBC Radio 4 in 2000 and ran for two series. It became a national phenomenon when it transferred to television in 2003. Walliams and Lucas made four series of the programme over five years. The book Inside Little Britain (2006) follows Walliams and Lucas on tour for a live theatre version of the programme. The pair followed up this success with a series of Come Fly With Me in 2010 but haven’t worked together regularly since.
