About this deal

So, I bought a one-foot nylon cord and a plastic clip from REI, and these have given me a year of faithful service.

I spent weeks trying to find a product that I could use for my 6 year old while also using an infant seat on the back of my bike. The additional weight on the back, although evident, did not feel particularly taxing and actually made the back end feel more planted on the road. After finishing the set up and ensuring all bolts were tightened correctly, I headed out for a shake down ride (without a passenger) to confirm that I’d set everything up right and nothing was going to fall off and bounce down the road.I bought one of these to replace a seat post mounted bar-type tag-along that just wasn’t offering the stability I needed for the 1.

If the two "knurled nuts" that hold this in place are not tight, the childs bike will take a horrible crash. The coupling weighs 10 pounds, just for the parts that detach from the bikes, and the parts that stay on my bike are at least another 5 pounds, though I didn't weigh them before installation (and the last time I removed them, it look a hammer because of all the rust; see below). Clever Cycles swore to me that this extension would not interfere with the mounting of either a child seat or my panniers on the rear rack.Attaching and detaching the child’s bike is quick and easy to do, much quicker than with the Trail-Gator. Das Hinterfahrrad kippt nach rechts und links und der Haken am Kinderrad hat sich sogar bereits soweit gelöst, dass mein Sohn in einer Tour über Schotterwege aus der Halterung raus ist, und böse hingefallen ist. That way I have full control of where he goes and I can look after him without being afraid that he might drive his bike into the traffic. A Swiss design, the FollowMe Tandem is a clever parental tandem bicycle attachment for coupling a children's bicycle to an adult bicycle.

It is easy to attach or detach the child's bike -- I do this every day, and it takes perhaps 60 seconds. People pull up beside me in their cars and roll down their windows to tell me how great my setup is.I’ve never had any problems with the FollowMe Tandem interfering with the panniers, so I would think you’d be fine. You should be aware though there are limitations to what bikes the FollowMe Tandem can be fitted to.

The child's bike attaches or detaches in one minute, so the child can ride attached or separately and switch between these modalities. On the parent bike using quick release or appropriate axle adapters, on the children's bike with a clamp on the down tube. This means there is little risk of damage to the bikes – I’ve heard of damage to head tubes caused by over tightening the clamps on these alternatives, in an attempt to compensate for this listing. The eyelets on this particular bike (for attaching racks or mudguards) are very close to its rear axle.
